Website Navigation - Need A Solution

I'm assembling the 'skeleton' of my site and trying to get the design and nav structure set up before I start adding content. Currently, I am using the OP 2.0 blog theme, on WP.

I've actually run into 2 problems...

So far I've created 51 pages, and 3 blog posts.

The manner in which I was trying to structure the site was to have 8 main navigation tabs (parent pages) on the top nav menu

Home - Blog - Services - Product Reviews - Our Store - Contact - Legal Info - Earn Money!

Nested under those pages (my sibling pages) I have approx 43 pages that then drill down to a specific category/topic

Problem #1 - When I make a new 'post' and nest it under the proper 'parent' page, the posts do not show up from the main nav bar, nor do they appear if someone is only interested in posts relative to that page attribute.

Is there a way to assign a 'post' to a specific 'page' so that visitors who are interested in a specific "Post" will also see relative "posts" to that topic, under the page they are nested?

Problem #2 - My Blog Tab (one of the 8 tabs) located on the main nav bar consists of the following:

- Blog (parent page)
- - Categories (sibling menu page)
- - - Business Psychology & Mindset (sub-sibling menu page)
- - - Personal Self-Development (Sub-sibling menu page)
- - - Marketing Strategies (sub-sibling menu page)

*So, when a visitor 'hovers' over my blog tab, the 'categories' tab appears as a sub-menu 1

*When they 'hover' over the 'categories' tab in ANY of the 3 main category pages - the sub-menu 2 appears for that specific category

Example:

-Blog
- - Categories
- - - Marketing Strategies
- - - - Affiliate Marketing
- - - - Article Marketing
- - - - Bum Marketing
- - - - Content Syndication
- - - - Copywriting
- - - - Plus 7 more categories that appear in the drop-down from the main nav bar

When a visitor drills down to the sub-sibling category "Marketing Strategies" there currently 12 pages created, and I was going to add more later. But the problem is 2-fold.

Problem #2a - when the 12 current sub-pages open for "Marketing Strategies" a portion of the sub-menu items disappear beneath the 'viewers' screen. So, in order for visitors to actually 'see' these tabs, they have to use the down arrow key - because if they try to scroll the page, the entire menu goes bye-bye. (*Not what I was aiming for...)

Problem #2b - using the 'example above, if a visitor 'opens' the "Affiliate Marketing" menu item, it only shows the intro page. I was hoping I could write posts, and then have them appear 'under' that menu page... they do not.

*I thought about creating a list of 'links' under each menu page, again using the "Affiliate Marketing" menu item as an example...

- Blog (page)
- - Categories (page)
- - - - Marketing Strategies
- - - - - Affiliate Marketing (page) -basically a landing page/intro for this category
- - - - - - All future "Post Titles" w/ Links displayed as a directory for this category?

  • Affiliate Marketing Networks
  • Affiliate Marketing Tips
  • 10 Ways to Start Affiliate Marketing
  • Becoming a Super-Affiliate
  • and how ever many posts concerning "aff marketing" in the future.
*But, then I would have to manually add a link to each post, and manage this for all category pages for each time I write a 'new post' , or publish another article post.

Is there a way to assign a 'post' to a specific sibling or sub-sibling page and have these new 'posts' appear under the pages I created for each category?

There's not much content on the site, as the majority of work completed was establishing 'pages' - adding a 'page pic' with SEO for titles, images, and I've been working on the graphics, logo, and overall design.

Forgive my long post, but this is a crap-ton of work, and I can only hope my nav menu pages can be used...as they look amazing in mobile app, and pretty decent on the site.

Again, not much content... but here's the site: Exploited Media

Thanks, appreciate any help!

Yes, you do have some questions... lol

Far as I know, you can not mix pages and posts in a menu, least not so wordpress adds new ones for you as you create them. Only way I know, the way I do it, is to create custom menu's, then you can add what ever you want to what ever menu you want.

Only downside, when you have a new page or post you want to add, you need to edit the menu and do it by hand. Not that it's a huge deal, just saying it's not something that can be put on auto-pilot.

To be honest, it almost seems or looks to me that your making the menu's to complicated and loading them with too much. I say that because it might be more difficult for your visitors to find everything. Good chance they might miss a sub menu, or sub-sub menu, or not even know it's there.

    Just my opinion.

For example, the "Blog" menu item, why have a "categories" sub menu, then sub-sub menu's after that? Why not ditch the first categories menu item in the first place? And have your actually category items right under the Blog menu? Just seems un-necessary.

Same for "Home", why a first sub menu of "Out Products"? Just put those right under home? Just seems overly complicated.

And like your finding out, the more you nest your menu's, the more visibility issues you might run in to.

    KISS. Simple is better.

    Just my thoughts
