Wordpress Categories vs Pages vs Posts

Hey all, just posting again because I needed something clarified.

On my website Top Menu, I created two categories under which I listed 5 more pages each that fit under those categories.

My question is: What is the difference between a Category Page and just an ordinary page in your website? What differences would I run into if I created only pages in my menu as opposed to the category pages I am using??

What exactly is the purpose of a "category" page??

Category is a designation used in the navigation and other ways to steer your visitors around your site as well as other functions such as SEO use.
With just a few pages or small site it can seem insignificant.
Every page has a category. If you don't give it one it will be automatically put into the "uncatogorized" category by default.

Without Category you can't create pages.
Category means you can write content for that category so many times using page.
    An example
    Category name Cars
you are ablt write BMW car as a page and full details of that particular model in one page.
In next page another model and aos on.

    Second Category might be Bikes
You can write in a page Bike 1 model.

Hope this helps for your understanding.
In page 2 Bike 2 model.

Hmmm... it may be that I am just a hard head but I'm still not understanding the purpose of a category page when I can simply install a plug in to allow to me post posts on pages. What do I need categories pages for?

Incorrect. You can create an entire WordPress site from pages without a single category.

This is actually how my page is set up at the moment. My entire website is made up of pages and no categories/posts. Is there anything wrong with formatting my website like this? (I am in a niche that is similar to a product review site, so I plan on having a my reviews in my pages rather than posts).

Posts belong to categories. It is a way for WordPress to organize your content. Posts can belong to a category so that when someone visits that category page then all the posts from that category are displayed.

By doing this with a plugin you are just adding more steps and more bulk for the server to deal with. Use WordPress the way it was meant to!
