Hi guys,

My team and I creates animated explainer videos for companies all over the world. How important do you guys think having a great animated explainer video is to have on your websites, rather than just a bunch of text and photos? I'd love to know what you guys think, because for some odd reason, most companies just don't think they need one, but they do.

If that's your pitch (they just need one) it's no wonder why your not making any sales.

They need one? Ok, but why? How will it help them? How much can they increase their sales with a video? How can they measure that? Do you provide video analytics? How many more subscribers will they get? Will it improve their SEO and on-page site metrics?

Oh, and your site is terrible by the way (no offense) and loads really slow. Which is probably another reason why you're not making much sales.

I do think it is very helpful to have an explainer video. I don't think the majority of small business owners are hip to the importance of them yet. To me, they just work. However, I don't think you necessarily need to have one on your website. Explainer videos seem to be more necessary as it gets harder to explain the nature of the business (hence the name, right? lol)

In my opinion, explainer videos do not have a direct impact on translating into sales, but it helps people to understand more about the importance for (e.g.) a particular type of service, and creates awareness and better understanding.

It has an indirect way to achieving sales, unless you're talking about explainer videos to be uploaded onto app stores to promote a particular mobile application and explain its concept within the store itself.

  • I think you might be taking the wrong approach with this if you are cold calling to market your services. The quality of your videos are very high. However, I can't find your site on Google at all. Maybe you should improve the site to convert visitors to sales and spend out on Adwords. That way people interested in explainer video's would come to you. I.E. pre-qualified leads that are interested in your work already.

    They are great!
Especially when you are trying to get something across that may be a little tricky or complicated. If its simple enough it will make people VERY on confident in a product.

    Videos are not 100%
In other words, use images minimally but effectively, same as text. Starting your sales page with a great video to take potential customers for an over view is, in my opinion, the best practice.

I forgot to mention. Now a days, every sales or marketing page must include a video. You are way more likely to convert.
