Hey Warriors... I am setting up a client with a site that they need to be able to update. To you and me WP may be simple, but to them there are WAY too many buttons so I need more control over the back end. It needs to be SIMPLE. I found Cushy CMS which is awesome in many ways but it does not have a blog, and I need a blog... Any ideas? |

The old style wordpress backend was far more newbie friendly. I used wordpress for many client sites but no so much now. I also found that CMS Made Simple was a pretty good option for creating fast turnaround sites that were easy to update even the most tech un-savy of clients. Even the styling is handled from the admin end. It might be worth looking into. |

Radiant CMS is pretty easy to use. It runs on ruby on rails. Also you can try textpattern but might not work with the type of site your making.

You could always set the client up with a low level access account, so you could then hide all the buttons but the ones they need to use. There's a plugin out there too that lets you specifically control what a given user level can and can't do. Then you can minimize any potential confusion, and you just get left with basically WYSIWYG function for your client only. |

Man if WP is too complicated for them how do they tie their shoes, or go out in public without walking into traffic? Yeah there are tons of options but you need not use them all and to make a post is not much more complicated than writing an email. |

CMS made simple for me. Especially as its easy to import css templates into their CMS, so you can use free css templates, then just import them and finish the site off.

Joomla allows you to have different user accounts, in addition to the "super administrator" which gives you all of the administrative options that you, as the designer, would be able to access. There are minimal access levels in Joomla that you can set up for the client - such as "author" or "editor" - and all they will be able to do is change/add content. They will not be able to change/access any menu settings, or any template settings. I have this set up with a client of mine who revises the site on his 10 year old computer with IE6. He loves the ease of use. |
