Best theme, template or method for creating a freelance writing site without coding?

Let me start by saying, I use speech recognition software to do most of my typing. Hand coding beyond minimal changes is out of the question for me.

I want to make a website for myself to start a content marketing business. I have fooled around a little bit with WordPress and Weebly. I haven't been able to find anything that fits for I am looking for or doesn't seem cheesy.

I've tried using the page building software like PageBuilder by SiteOrigin. I seem to be struggling with finding a theme I like or building/modifying a theme. Maybe I need to find better instruction.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to modify a theme or use the building software?

I want to get this done without spending any money.

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hi wheelstb,

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you'll need to be a bit more realistic as to what your expectations are. If you don't have the technical ability (nor the desire to learn), and aren't in a position to pay for changes to be made.. you're really only left with a few themes that allow very basic customization (eg. change colours, images.. that's about it).

IMO, a lot of people put far too much focus on the design of their site too early.. As long as it looks professional you're good to go.. and as soon as you've made a few dollars, you can reinvest that back into your site and hire a designer.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Agree with that... Start with simple and made few bucks and reinvest with other''s people service on your own web design... its too hard for us non-programmers/designers...

I think you should go from a clean design (less text, show image and colour) for better user experience. That's good to see some creative web design template, but don't go wrong way. Stay with something belongs with you, from original content to your imagine.

If you want to use WordPress, there are several job board-type plugins available. I used this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-freelance-pro/ when my site was about *gasp* outsourcing.

Thanks for the info guys. You all confirmed what I was already thinking. Which is, choose a professional theme and then pay to have something done down the line.

As far as the content of the site goes, it will be content marketing. I know I'm going to have one page on the services I offer and then a blog page on current trends relevant to content marketing. I'm also going to have one page that is basically a form. The form will allow prospective clients to make inquiries about projects Does anyone have any other advice as far as what sections or pages should be included?

      Thanks
