Newbie needs feedback on site

Hi everyone. I'm currently working as a consultant for a business that has traditionally used offline marketing to gain exposure for the business.

I'm helping them with a few things, mainly on the sales and marketing side.

The site averages around 500 visitors a month, but there are zero conversions.

There has been a push to "post more" on social media, which is being done, and has slightly increased traffic to the site, but it isn't helping convert people.

Most people go to the about page and then leave.

I think the site design is holding things back, as well as vague product descriptions, non compelling sales copy.

If you would be so kind and give a blunt, honest assessment of this site and business it would be greatly appreciated. I'm happy to do anything to help in return.

Thank you!

The site looks professional and nice, but there does not seem to be any clear path for the visitor to buy anything or opt in.

    Some immediate observations:
    • I ignored the PayPal button at first, as I didn't understand what it was selling.
    • I had to navigate via several pages before I realized that the call to action was the "reality check"
    • The upper (and most important) part of the frontpage is taken up by a very large logo, and a HUGE slider image, overlayed with a link to "About". I suspect this is why most your visitors end up there
    • I closed the popup almost immediately - I suspect because I didn't realize there was anything to click or any value for me

    Some suggestions:
    • Your client may not like this one: remove the slider images on the front page, and replace with a clear call to action with a button to click for more information (or button which leads to optin page or optin popup box)
    • In the blog articles: give readers value, and provide call to action text links throughout the articles
    • Redesign the "reality check" banner ad, and include a button or "click here" type text
    • Maybe redesign the optin funnel so they get some immediate value (lead magnet) instead of a "long boring survey/quiz"
    • Make a salespage for the product your selling, together with a clear banner ad which explains the offer in short

    Hope that helps!
