Should you make a landing page for your blog?

Hey everybody. I made a post earlier about how I have been working on my blog and have redirected the front page to how to start a blog. I was wanting to get some feedback about how it looks and any tips about what I should do in order to start getting more search engine traffic. I plan on adding more content to it over the next couple days but think it is starting to turn out pretty good myself. Any other tips you can recommend for me to get some more traffic?

    There's nothing wrong with using your blog as your landing page. The main thing for any front page site/blog is to make sure you have mechanisms in place to capture a lead. So be sure to have an opt-in form box to the right of your blog (on every page), and for every 1 person that visits your blog, use a hover ad to immediately try and capture your prospects email and name information. This will dramatically boost your opt-in rate response.

      Thanks for letting me know about this idea and I was able to make some improvements to my site last night Let me know what you think about the new look. I think adding my sidebar to the bottom of the page was a better idea

    It depends on the niche you are building wordpress blog for example if you make a website related to top ten web hosting providers then I think yes you should build a page for it.

    Setting up a landing page as your blog's home page is not a good idea
    since blog posts at the home page offer much better SEO.

      Think you may be right and I noticed that the landing page was taking a long time to load because of all the pictures and content that I have inside of it. Don't want my page speed to effect my ratings and I've changed it back anyways
