Of course, use categories (As you say it is one blog. You'll have one primary URL).

        There are many differences.
        The biggest difference is:
Categories are structures (essentially pointers to destinations) used for organizing "similar/related concepts". Categories don't occupy space/memory on hard drive or web space. Categories are merely the destination addresses. The folders are containers. They hold "related files" which do occupy space/memory of your computer hard drive or web space.

If you want to access a sub folder, you can do so by:

        1] Creating and assigning a sub-domain to your sub-folder

        OR

2] By using an absolute URL of that sub-folder (not to be confused with category slug/name)
        e.g. http://mywebsite.com/sub-folder

It is common to confuse category names (or slugs) with sub-folder names.

From the SEO point of view it is not advisable to create sub-folders or sub-domains.
Theoretically, there is no harm. However, Google and many other search engines don't
welcome sub-folders and sub-domains. One possible reason could be, the pages under
the primary domain are indexed first and then the sub-domain pages.
        Another example of this concept
Technically all TLDs (Top Level Domains) are with the same ranking capabilities, however we
know that .com, .net and .org always out-rank other domain extensions.

  • Categories and tags are the way WordPress organizes things instead of using sub folders. This alos saves a lot of work..

    Hi,
I think you should create sub categories too for your blog.
It will be better to describe things

does all the niches that you mentioned are related? if not i suggest you to separate them into different domain name... since they all are not related...
