Hello warriors! how is everyone doing? over the past 2 weeks I've learned a good amount about wordpress, certainly enough to build several types of sites and use plugins. as i was researching, i stumbled upon a couple of websites that use CMS to create websites for you, and i thought of a business idea. (its great, because its directly correlated to my own hobby ) so, since i saw these businesses providing websites and am very aware of internet marketing and presence being very important at this point in time for almost any businesses, i know that there is a problem/solution fit, so i asked myself, well if there is, is there a real product/market fit? so i analyzed all these websites that provide services and build websites through CMS. i sent them i guess what you can call a faux email, (this was for competitor analysis) and said something along the lines of "hey, I'm john doe, i came across your site and am impressed by your services, how much would it be if you made me a website with x, y, and z on it ?" and i got around 15 responses, every single one over $600, and realized that i can build websites better than half of those guys! so i said, alright I'm going to start a website development / online presence solution agency (i decided this because in the future we are going to provide a variety of other services, from printing business cards to custom design and also marketing campaigns, or if not i might just expand it to another "partner" or brother business, i have to ask my partner). when i realized this i said, well, hell, ill make people websites for a couple hundred dollars! i was planning to do this as a hobby. so we brainstormed, stayed up till 6am last night with a couple coffees, and wrote an 8 page business plan and a 15 step guilde to get the ball rolling. we got a little stuck on prospecting and finding potential clients. now, i have run 2 businesses in the past, both through the internet, and both had a similar problem, we had more business and clients to work with than we ever had the time for, so I've been asking myself "how can i maximize the money gained from minimizing the amount of clients"?
so i came with a couple of things, one, targeting businesses that have a high average customer value and/or transaction value, and also a very detailed upselling and expansion plan , including our current assistants and employees from other businesses.
theres one problem, I'm not exactly sure how to go as far as how to find those clients and what ways to pitch them would be the best / most convenient.

we came up with some ways and i really want you to help me decide,

1. finding people on directories and either emailing them a pitch, OR calling. what would be better? (also, we are picking people who currently have no website and then expanding to making websites for people who have, or in other words, improving their website, but first we want a decent list of testimonials, a portfolio of recent work, and much more knowledge in different CMS)

2. cold calling people in yellow pages? (what do you think? i believe most of these people aren't too tech savvy and a lot are really missing/skipping on internet marketing, i believe we can pretty easily turn them into customers with an "online presence is crucial, the internet markets 24/7, lower marketing costs long term, save time on tasks that don't pay you, mention metrics/business of online world" type of approach.

those are the only 2 methods we currently have, but as you may assume have more potential clients within them to work on this project till the day I'm in my private jet.. err... i mean deathbed . if you have another prospecting method just let me know, i wouldn't mind considering it.

anyways, like i said, this is kind of being run by me and my partner, and we are at "startup" stage, so we don't have time to do everything. its more along the lines of pivot, pivot, change this, try that, drop this, move on, test this, etc etc. although we have some assistants, writers, copywriters and sources of people from other businesses that will do the "cheap/laborious" tasks for us, we have a lot to work on, were building a 2 man empire and want a quarter million in revenue by early 2016 (not mentioning the specific date (: )

before you tell me "oh no thats too high" or "oh that market is saturated" or be the pessimistic snail, let me tell you something. the sky is really the limit. theres always some sort of innovation and change to be done. i decided not to go to college a couple of months ago after graduating high school and was getting bashed by my parents and friends. i don't talk numbers to anyone who's not financing my equity but everyone around me is now relying on me to help them quit their jobs, and me and my mom actually just bought a house built a year ago. COLLEGE SEMESTER JUST STARTED just want to drop this in here before i get the usual "do something else" or "that won't work" comment. people said that before, people say that all the time, people make excuses all day. its all about making it happen.

if you can help, and give some insight on the questions asked, that would be beautiful. i also wouldn't mind asking anyones questions or helping someone out.
as far as the copywriting, registration, and the legal side, we are pretty established and know what to do, i just need help conveniently finding clients to convert, and like i said earlier, maximizing money made from minimizing clients served.

thanks so much warriors.
