      Hi,

If you want help, you better be more specific.

What features do you want to add to your blog?
Where are you trying to add links and what type of links? In a navigation, footer, on the side, in a post, etc?

Your problem sounds simple but you have to explain clearly for someone to help.
And don't forget to give us the url of your blog. You will get a solution fast.

      Regards

I'm not an expert. Bit I just did what you're asking about. I downloaded a free plugin, Max Banner Ads. You can google them and find their website. You can look at my site in my signature line below. There's an example. I put in those two ads with that plug in. It's WP compatible.
      It was easy!

While writing the post, first switch to HTML view, and remove all content and then paste the post content from where you earlier seem to have pasted.

Now come back to HTML view, upload the image with upload button (Add and Image button - the first one), upload image, and enter the hoplink into link url field, set the alignment (left or right), size and then click Insert into post.

Also after switching back to HTML view, you can format your text with basic formatting like applying bold text etc.

I find it easier to create my page using an html editor. I design the width of my finished page to fit onto the main panel (or side panel) in WordPress. When my page is complete, I copy the html code (excluding any header information) into my WordPress page, making sure to select the HTML view. Any images I upload to an image folder in the WordPress files and direct my image links there or to another site if hosted externally.

I keep the html code simple so I don't run into any problems running the code in WordPress.
Unless the code is simple and short, I find it alot easier to edit my code outside the edit box in WordPress.
