Which audience to target?

Hi guys, I got a question to freelancers.

How do you know how to position yourselves? Like, do you target direct clients (eg. restaurants, real estate agencies etc) or do you target web agencies/digital agencies etc. For instance I want to start writing articles but I dont know which audience I should target. I would accept projects from both, should I target both?

    Target whoever you feel you want, it's up to you, but also depends a lot on the category of your website.

    Your target audience is something you need to figure out based on what you are doing.

    More information, input and thinking is needed on your part - you want to write articles, but why?

    If you're writing articles to gain traffic then: what are you promoting? What target audience would be best to promote said product or service too?

    For example - Self-balancing scooters are really popular right now here in the UK (and selling them is a good idea) - so, if you were looking to sell these self balancing scooters, who are you going to target? Old aged pensioners? no? Perhaps working class parents and young university students would be your best bet?

    Yes you should target both as long as you are comfortable with that.
