Help Needed

Hi

My daughter made a website for a friend using a template: contemporarysofabed . com

and someone told me to check it in: validator . w3.org
(sorry have to leave gabs in because haven't posted enough yet)

anyway in there it says it has 4 errors but she has no idea how to
fix them.

Can anyone help explain it to her?

    Hi,

    PM me and i'll take a look. First glance tells me its strict doc-type and for templates their are usually errors. i would switch it to traditional. Also, there are 15 errors showing up the W3c.org validator.

    Click here: http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_uri+with_options and place a checkmark next to "Clean up Markeup with HTML Tidy". The correct output will show at the bottom of the page - cut and paste and entirely replace your code with the corrected code. Backup the orginal file before you do this.

      Dear LADwebdesign, or anyone reading this,

      I am pulling my hair out with an issue which i am sure is simple (it always is when one knows isn't it?) Anyways, i am wanting to add text on top of a gif (which looks like a pinned post-it note). I uploaded the gif via ftp, and added it on the needed spot of my webpage using Front Page 2003. To write the text, I created a text box (like in MS Word), set background as clear, and 'no line'. I then placed this text box with text right on top of the gif, and upon 'peviewing' it in FP, I can see it looks like a post it with text on it. However, when I upload the page and check it online, the text is moved away from where it is suppose to sit.
      If you check discovering-the-law-of-attraction [dot] com, you'll know what I am trying to explain here. If you use safari, it will show a box, or if you use i.e, you'll see the moved text box within the testimonials' text.
      I would really like some help so that I can submit to CB and resume to launching my product. Hope ou can help.

    have just used validator.w3.org for a website of mine - I clicked on "Clean up Markeup with HTML Tidy" but it just comes up with errors. Can anyone help me.

    i took a look at the page mentioned. Not the code of it but just he visual end. My first suggestion would be to move away from using Frontpage 2003 and into a more mainstream web design tool.

    Give Adobe Dreamweaver a try, you will have better results from it. Just visit adobe website and download the trial version to give it a go.

    What i noticed is that you have a few images that are broken (post it background image, post it footer image.) which is usually caused by a couple of simple problems. 1) images failed to upload or 2) path to the images are invalid.

    You also have content overlapping. This can be caused by invalid CSS or by using the wrong values in a css class. It can also be caused by the z-index css property.
