I need to have a custom twitter page designed for a chiropractor. Nothing too difficult. Need to have it by the end of this week, (Friday/Saturday Aug 21st/22nd), if possible. Needs to incorporate his photo and his logo, as well as name, address, phone. Needs a light blue radiant or gradient background, starting from the central photo of the Dr.
Money to be paid via paypal upon approval and completion of final design.
Thanks!

      Hi HomeBizNizz,
I have not done any work on the twitter page so far. This is why I have it posted as a job for hire. I have the photos of the Dr. that will need to be incorporated, as well as his logo and his business colors that I will be happy to provide upon awarding of the job.
      Thanks....

No, I have not even started on it, which is why I am wanting to hire it out to be completed. I can provide the photos, and the logo, just need to have someone with design skills to do this for me!
      Thanks

Standard convention is minimum half up front and half on completion. Its not unheard of for someone to "hire" two or more designers and leave one holding the bag . Experienced designers know the ropes and never do work without some payment upfront. Half minimizes the risk to the buyer and the designer.

Not puttting in a bid for the job just statting a good payment convention for designers and buyers.

Most designers, like myself, put a large "SAMPLE" across the entire design as an example. It eliminates the possibility of my design being stolen and I wont need a payment upfront. If they like the design and want to use it, I take off the "SAMPLE" have them pay me, and I give them the design. That simple.

well I suppose for a small job -15 minute or less. I don't do too many of those anymore. Anything elaborate Putting sample on it means nothing. If they walk away then you are left with it just sitting on your drive and your time totally wasted.

Not necessarily. If I built a complete website, I'd take a screenshot of it and put sample over it just like any other image. If I make an ebook, of any kind, no matter the design, I can put "Sample" on it. Unless the design has solid colors that are easy to color over, then putting "sample" on it, is one of the best ways to ensure it wont be stolen.

I mean, of course, that's only one side of the story. There is also the possibility of the designer to just take the money and never give the product. In which way, that can't be helped.

Not how its done Waloosh. Not by professionals. covers and easily reusable things thats fine but an entire completed custom website - No. You cannot turn around and easily sell a custom website to someone else -well - because it was custom to that client. I mean you can and spend hours on it but you will learn soon enough. Besides a complete website is not an image and theres no way for the customer to see you can code from an image.

You made a good point on the twitter page now that I think about it. Simple enough. Just saying that in higher grade jobs most customers need to see a design without sample over it and they need to see that it is coded and works where they want it to. Its not just about images. I'll end my discussion of that here. Maybe in another thread.

watermarking still won't protect you, clients think they are paying for our time when it is more than that, they get your input, insight and creativeness. Good work involves years of experience, software skills, talent, libraries of developed works and tools and so much more. it more than "it will take 15 min".
if it were only a time issue, then the client can simply do it themselves, don't you think?
Whether the work is 'easily resuable' or not, work is work, concepts are out there and can easily be stolen (and are).
no more from me either on this

    Hey Guys,

Sorry for all of the controversy. I agree that in standard conventions you pay half up front and half at the end. And, you are right that for a traditional site this is the way to go. On the other hand, I was hustled for $225 on elance earlier this year by some Indians who posted a working project and then never handed over the files after I released the funds.

However, a Twitter page is simply a PhotoShop/ GIMP affair, and the finished product is simply a .jpg image. There is NO HTML, NO Coding, nothing but PS skills. If you'd like to see my payment history, I do have extensive contracts on Elance, but I figured I would get a better/faster response here. elance profile: rl1207

Also, I have made a purchase here from Ben Pei who does the "Warrior Mini site Package", and I have already paid him for it. That was a much more intensive job.

I understand and respect the value of community, and I will strive my hardest here to maintain a good relationship with all of you! :-)

Waloosh, I will respond to your PM. Good to see another fellow Texan! A

Wallosh, some advice on your personal site: don't fight the Internetz; you'll never win. Instead, go around them. Simply use Wordpress or Drupal. I use Wordpress for most of my sites, and you can check out my personal blog, which is a wordpress theme from Press75.com that I simply modified. This keeps site downtime to a minimum, and you can always change it later.

Visitors won't know the difference, and you'll have an amazing looking site that's really really simple to maintain.
