Value of website

Hello! I like to often check how much my website is worth and sometimes I compare it to my competitors. Yesterday, I stumbled on a website that has the exact same age as my website, (10 months), it tackles the same topics as I do, and several articles are on the same topics as mine (a bit odd) and there are about the same number of articles as mine. What makes a similar website be valued $12,000 while mine is only worth a miserable $240.00? The website has a social presence like me, with about 2,000 likes while mine has about 1,200. Any idea how a website can get so much value in so little time?

    The number on those kind of sites aren't really indicative of a websites value. They can't see how much money a website makes and therefore how much it's worth. Focus on making the website profitable instead, not increasing some meaningless figure.

    Probably because that other website has more high value backlinks and more people visit that website. That's the only reason why it would rank better.

    The reason can be because of having good backlinks to that website. It would be better if you start using quality backlinks if you haven't yet started. Focus on linking to the reputed sites that would bring value to your business. Also Quality content is important.
    Try making your articles and blog posts go on different social sites so that more people can see your site. Leverage the use of social channels like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, where you can get all kinds of active members.
