Default Knowledge on webdesign

I'm looking for knowledge on webdesign.
But NOT on the HTML/CSS part.
I can do that part OKish.

But, on how to combine colors, fonts, backgrounds
and make that into a complete design.
And I would like to go deep into this.
Not just a fast tutorial.
I don't learn too much from those.
No, give me solid info.

Please, tip me about good ebooks, books, sites,
blogs, articles and links.

So who want to give a crack at it...?
Thanks in advance.

Tip Re: Knowledge on webdesign

Surprisingly there's not very much in the way of good resouces that teach you the principles of good web design.

Sitepoint has a couple of books that are worth checking out.

The*Principles*of Beautiful*Web*Design - SitePoint Books

Sexy Web Design - SitePoint Books

But I'd recommend regularly reading design blogs, they often have articles on good web design. Smashing Magazine is a good place to start and they link to lots of other blogs and articles: Smashing Magazine

real designers has this natural talent in putting together great websites. They know what color theme to use and has the ability to create designs from scratch. Good luck!

Yep, I have noticed it not too much on the principles
of good web design out there on the net.
Really a shame.

Wake up, pro webdesigners.
Write a ebook for crying out loud.
And sell it.
I'll pay, but keep it in good quality.
Crap gets a fast refund.

Isn't that just plain CSS code info...?

Update:
The links to the 2 books mentioned above:
Sexy Web Design
The Principles of Beautiful Web Design
60 bucks for those 2 ebooks.
Well, I guess I can cut drinking this or next weekend.

I disagree with this comment. real designers have a talent yes, but converting that talent into something usable takes the time to learn the ins and outs, the latest, the proper colors, formatting, its not slapping something together in notepad using some codes.

my favorite sites for keeping up with the latest:

9 Essential Principles for Good Web Design - Psdtuts+
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008...ve-web-design/
Digital Web Magazine - Principles and Elements of Design (this site isnt being kept up any longer)

site pro news also has a great newsletter they send out weekly, I'd recommend that highly, its goes beyond the google mentality.

But one of the main needs of designer is to have a good number of images.
