What is high salary for you? But to answer the question in general. Both. Programming and graphic designing is not cheap. For a quality programmer or graphic designer, be ready to pay well above $60 per hour. Of course, you can go below $60 if you don't care about the quality. |

For designers post a small project on 99designs and scoop out the raw talent for programmers, goto DP and post your job and ignore the first 99 replies and you will find an absolute gem.

But yeah, if you are willing to be scammed and mislead before finding someone good, then paying a low price could be worth it, as long as you only get scammed once before finding someone good ![]() Nah just kidding, it depends to be honest - I've hired some very experienced reputable people at $25 per hour, and they did a great job. However it's when people on the 'reputable' (hah) DP and all start charging $5/hour or $50 for a web design that you must be cautious. Plus there *will* usually be a limit on the quality of web designs/coding projects you can get from people charging below-average wages. I've seem very amazing website designs in the past, but they were the result of paying $50+ per hour. I've never seen an absolutely quality piece of work from one of these $5/hour or $50/web design offers. But I do agree that it's possible to find great people for less than $60/hour, but I also would never recommend a place like DP to look for them. Have been scammed too often there, and seen too many scammers there, to recommend that for a place to look for 'cheap' coders and designers. (And yes, of course I run background checks as best as possible, before hiring someone)

A lot depends upon what type of coding you are looking for also. Simple stuff is going to be much less expensive than designing you an accounting system or an interactive game. HTML coders are a dime dozen. Programming logic for a game is a bit different and requires a great deal more knowledge, higher end tools, etc.. This holds true for graphic artists also. There is a big difference in the knowledge needed to create 2d images compared to 3d models. I agree with Tristan on speed. An experienced person, though they charge higher, may get the work done in a third of the time(or less) of a lesser experienced/talented person. |
