Since I don't have the money to hire a guy to build a good template for me, I'll use my own skills....which su**. I do know HTML and am learning CSS. I want to know if I should use direct HTML and CSS on a WP template to customize it or use Dreamweaver( my dad's company computer ) or some other HTML editor because my HTML and CSS skills are crappy? One more question......what's so different about WP templates and normal HTML templates?? |

Dear SiddFisher, Don't over think the word press customization. You just need to go to the appearance tab on the left hand side then get into the editor menu. If you want to tweak your wp appearance, just play with the css file. That's works well. Best Wishes, -Pixelcrafter- Quote:

I have limited customizing skills so I find a template that I like and just tweak the header (usually with Photoshop). The comment about tweaking the CSS in theme editor is also good. I find that if I don't dramatically change the structure that making changes is pretty easy. Hope this helps. |

Hi The more you understand HTML, CSS and basic PHP, the more changes you have make to any template. For minor issues, the above comments are very good ones. Use the editor that is built into Wordpress. For bigger changes, I work on the theme on my computer, make the chnages I wnat, them upload the theme and test it... Always keep a backup of the original in case you blow the code up (best way to learn I think is to blow a couple of sites up!...Ha, by that standard I am an Expert!). Always be looking for ways to improve your skills and moving forward. Have a Great Day! |
