Question re: FTP'ing exising Wordpress Plugins to a new Site:

I have a bunch of Wordpress plugins on "site A".

I'm creating a new site, "site B".

Site B needs the same plugins site A has.

I was thinking: instead of installing & configuring those plugins to site B one by one... what if instead I did this:

1. FTP download the plugins folder from site A to my hard drive.
2. FTP upload the plugins folder on my hard drive to site B

What will be the net result?

Will the plugins already be ACTIVATED in site B?
Will the plugins be CONFIGURED in site B according to how I did them in site A?
I presume plugins will simply need reconfiguring in site B?

Is this the best strategy for duplicating plugins from site to site??

    Yes, its the easiest way to duplicate multiple plugins. The plugins will all need to be activated and configured as the database information is not transferred over. It would be the same as if you did the one click install for each one.

    When you download plugins from site A and FTP upload them unto site B, site B still won't have those plugins activated. You'll need to activate and then customize as needed.

    No problem. I wish there was an automated method as well, since that would save a lot of time. I don't think there's any at the moment (or I'd be using it)

    BUT... if someone does find one, please do post it here. I know we can all benefit from that info.

      While we're on the topic of plugins - I have multiple Wordpress sites and it's a small career to update plugins - is there a plugin that updates plugins? Or, is that even a good idea??
