How to Improve Company Website?

Hey guys, I am getting ready to email a friend who owns a coffee shop in my neighborhood and I visited his website LATTEA - HOME and noticed some areas that could use some improvement.

But maybe I am missing something. How would YOU GUYS critique this website and what would YOU GUYS say in an email to him about where is website is going wrong and what could use some improvement?

Basically how could this website be improved to help this restaurant/coffee shop attract more business and customers? Thanks.

Keywords would be the first thing to change, I don't think I noticed an address there, no pictures of the property

Easiest way to get more business and customers would by creating a youtube video and using it to target keywords like mexican gril + location, bubble teas + location etc...

Have the restaurant on yellow pages and restaurant review sites...and give incentives for reviewers.

Also, I see a menu deal...is the grill near a high school or university? A student deal could be provided at lunchtimes on weekdays when they show their student card.

    .
You say the coffee shop owner is a friend. It would pay to visit it the friend in person and strike up a conversation about their business. Lead into asking a few questions about the website. You can tell your friend you have a few ideas about how to improve the site. This would be better then just sending a e-mail that may go into the trash.

    Good Luck whatever you do.

FYI - The small red text towards the bottom in the last few paragraphs are hard on the eyes and a big turn off. I skipped reading it !

The way this site is set up...it looks like a 90's website.

Some of the things I see is... the fonts need updating. The text in the box bar is not really that effective and the logo is cut off.

The red and yellow text has got to go. Just stay with black text over white background for a more pro touch.

The menu should be big and bold! After all, you are selling food there! Show how good it looks Make the people feel hungry just looking at it.

Use emotional words when you're describing the food such as:

crunchy tacos, seasoned ground beef, crisp shredded lettuce, real cheddar cheese, etc.

    You might say something like...

You haven't tried Mexican cuisine until you've tried the New Mexico style of cooking at Lattea Bubble Tea and Mex Grill Family restaurant. Using only the freshest ingredients hand-picked at the local markets, our menu is healthier than most Mexican restaurants and bursting with flavor which has kept our guests coming back for the past ??? years.

Look! If you want a professional looking site...

Here's a quick tip for you.

Go to Google and type in best mexican resturant and check out the sites you can find that look awesome and just model those. Even take a look at what tocobell is doing for that matter. They have a nice site as well.

    Good luck!

    Hope my tid bits helped

The site is ugly. And he's selling tacos, not coffee.

Assuming his core offering is coffee my advice is as follows:

People buying coffee want to see what sort of drinks they are going to get

But you have to give them something more than just coffee... So why should I, a coffee fanatic, come to your friend's coffee shop, as opposed to the one 4 doors down the street? The answer to that question should hit the website visitor as soon as the page loads.

    Here's a good example: http://www.paperorplastikcafe.com/

Notice the visual and emotional impact of the site; notice, too, that there's a je ne sais quoi about that cafe. There's an identity there; something that makes it stand out viscerally.

Coffee houses/cafe/restaurants (like most products or services, actually) are all about the 'experience,' so if you help your friend flesh out such an experience in a unique way, he should be all right.

    Hope that helps.

I'm going to go against the herd a little bit on this one.

While it's not going to win any design awards, the site isn't that ugly. Simple, yes. In need of an update? Sure.

Full of personality that represents the brand? Check.

So yeah, update the site by all means, but try to keep the attitude and the personality. This isn't a national chain, and the website doesn't need to be a generic restaurant site for a generic national audience.

That said, I would consider adding a few more images to the story that goes with the menu. The images they actually have are pretty good, they're just few and far between.

Everyone else also gets just one crack at it - help make theirs awesome too... or, politely step out of their way.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. As I said, it's not ugly. It's butt-ugly!

After having your website running, you need to promote your site in order to get traffic and revenue also. There're many ways to promote, for both free methods and paid methods.

Free methods such as: Doing SEO strategies, Social Media Content sharing, Youtube Sharing, Facebook Content, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest,...and many other channels that give you free using and promotions

Paid methods such as: Doing SEM such as Google Adwords, GDN, Solo ads, Facebook ads, banner ads,...

So it depends on your budgets that you will choose which methods that can give you the best effort, or you need to combine between free & paid methods in order to get the effective results

    I hope this helps.

Is this website optimized for mobile? I think it's not...
There's improvement needed when it comes to formatting, to make the site better looking.
The font and font sizes could get better. And more appealing pictures could help.

    Good luck!

First off, the website really needs more improvement. Adding more tasty looking pictures could help, and creating a slideshow on them could make the site look better!

Using bolder and a combination of font types and sizes could also make it more appealing.

Since this is a resto, the best way to market it is through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As for promotion, offering discounts and happy hour sounds good.

Judging by the address they are getting their traffic from the people who frequent the shopping mall where they rent their space.

Why would anyone search them out online unless they were another tenant wanting to order lunch?

Does their website get any traffic and generate any orders?

    I wouldn't think so.

If you are trying to sell them on getting more business from a web redesign then if I was the owner I'd be thinking "Is that really necessary?"

Yes. Ugly . maybe "butt ugly" but does it even matter given where there customers are coming from.

They are open from 11am to 2pm.

Why waste money on a new website.

They sell lunches to local people.

Much better off just walking the block giving free samples and offering a lunch delivery service.

Website development - Pointless - unless they are thinking of franchising.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

First of all, the yellow and red color scheme reminds me of preschool. It does not look professional.

I do not think there is an issue with the theme, but your map and contact details should be further up.

The Bubble Tea logo is too big and takes up half the screen, so you cannot display your slogan properly.

The text alignment is simply wrong.

    Tips:

    Clean up the design
    Use professional fonts and colors
Put the main message on the first screen
add contact info on top instead of a simple logo.

From what I saw, the main objective(s) seem to be

    > generating online orders and
    > generating delivery orders through the partner app.

To do that, you need to focus on just a few things.

Making the menu easy to find. A link to the partner app, rather than instructing people to go to the app site and hunt for their app. A prominent 'order online' button, on every page.

The owner may be in love with his logo and the clever "let's taco 'bout it" slogan, but people looking for lunch don't care at all. Yet on the home page, you have to scroll twice before finding an order button.

I didn't complete an order, as the store is several hundred miles away, but the order process seems pretty clunky. Each item comes with a long list of optional add-on items, but how to order them isn't obvious.

I didn't find a way to phone in an order.

Nor did I find an option for group orders/catering.

The tl;dr version is that the site needs to be optimized for generating the wanted response with a user experience that's easy and convenient. The butt-ugly layout is is an easy fix, but not the main problem.

I have to agree with a couple of the previous posts.. that would have been a good site in the 1990's

You can download a free template that will be much better..

Tell your friend that it is the first and only impression that he can make. He should make it properly..
