Website Automation and self-updating

Hi all,

I am about to buy a website that has many videos on it for a niche market I am interested in which ultimately leads to Amazon Affiliate links, the site itself appears to search for on subject videos and updates them on the website automatically. I have also heard that this can be done for news events/items.

Does anyone here know how this is done and what software is involved as I would like to know what costs are involved etc.
