Hello everyone,

This has caused me alot of frustration in the past - it's a wonder I have any hair left!

Just thought I would post the following for the benefit of beginners...

There are three main reasons for pictures not showing on the web. You may have forgotten to Refresh the page, you may need to clear your Cache or you may be a bad housekeeper! Now, don't panic! I am going to explain what I mean by this - and I will tell you how to rectify the problem. How does that sound?

Good. Well, here goes...

• You may just need to Refresh the Web Page. You can do this by clicking on the Refresh Button or by hitting F5 on your computer.

If you had the Web Page open BEFORE you added the picture and you go back to it to see how it looks now - it will look exactly the same!

Why? Because you need to reload it onto the Web - so that it is the most up-to-date version you are looking at.

• You may need to clear your Cache (your computer's temporary Internet folder). This is NOT difficult to do!

Your Cache is part of your computer's memory - where it stores a record of what websites you have visited etc.

When you type in the address - the computer remembers that you have visited it before and may bring you up the old version - before you added the pictures.

You can rectify this as follows:

Firefox => Click on tools => Clear Private Data => Make sure Cache is ticked

Internet Explorer => Click on tools => Internet Options =>General Tab => Temp. Internet files => Delete Files

• Now, I bet you were wondering what HOUSEKEEPING had to do with all of this!

It is SO important that you have your pictures in the correct place on your computer. You just cannot afford to be sloppy or untidy. EVERYTHING that you want to show on your website should be in the same folder - including the pictures.

Hope this helps someone...

Elaine

If you wanted to be sure that you were refreshing the page using the latest copy available, you should press SHIFT + F5
