Default Subscription Based Download Website

Hi there Warriors,

I have a client that i recently did a website for that has eCommerce shopping on it. However they recently decided that they want to switch gears and go as a subscription based server for their product downloads (something very close to BoxedArt) . They want to go with Joomla for their CMS, however i am getting them to hold judgement on that for now.

What i want to know is what you would suggest for this type of thing? and what you can suggest to prevent people from signing up, downloading everything and then cancel their subscription.

the website is still very young and has not yet been promoted heavily. And right now it uses a shopping cart program called: Candypress. Which would mean some heavy modding of it to do what is needed. them and myself would like to reduce their cost on this as they just had this done recently. they site is: http://www.3dmodelstogo.com if you wanted to look at it and get ideas as to what i am looking to propose to them.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

Joomla would do that. There are several subscription components that are available. The hardest part is deciding which one you want to go with.

The only thing you could do to prevent this is by limiting the number of downloads they can make per month. That's just kind of a feature of subscription sites.

There are some commercial scripts available that restrict new subscribers to new items and they cannot access older items. I think one is Launch Formula Marketing and Member Speed most likely does it as well.

Hello,
I have two joomla website both using subscription to dowload product.
The component I use is AEC(available from the joomla extension directory). It is highly recommended, flexible and comes with a pdf with step by step instruction. Best of all it is free.

Let me know if it is what you looking for.

Thanks for pointing out AEC. Still have to finish the config process and such but initial tests are good so far. That plus a few other modules/components, some configuration and it should be ready to go in a day or so.
