Improving my website.

So I started my blog not too long ago and I'm still figuring this all out. How I want to work with it, and it's getting to me I won't lie. It is a topic that I really want to write about, but sometimes I feel like there's something missing or that I'm doing something horribly wrong with it. So I was hoping that some of the people here could provide me with feedback.

My blog is in the writing niche, something I haven't found a lot of blogs for, and since I mostly started it with half of my intention being my own fun and improvement and the other half being a way of making money on my own, I'm not quite sure If I picked a good niche or if I'm doing this right. This isn't the first blog I've started, I had one while I was still with Wealthy Affiliate but I had to stop because I couldn't afford the premium service anymore at the time. Advice on what to change, or how to be successful and other things much appreciated.

First and foremost, you need to decrease the size of the images. The images are too huge and this does not look good. The content isn't visible due to this. People will get irritated seeing huge images and they will just go away.

Your SEO could be better: SEO optimisation is important to ensure you are driving traffic to your site via search engines. I recommend on page optimisations, targetted content and a backlinking strategy to improve performance.

Meta Description is too short having only 33 characters. You can go upto 160 characters.

There are no H1 tags defined. For every post you need to have one H1 tag. This can contain your main keyword. Preferably you need to start the Heading with a keyword.

Keyword Consistency: Your website's main keywords are not distributed well across the important HTML Tags of your website. Your page content should be focused around particular keywords you would like to rank for. These keywords should also be distributed across important HTML Tags such as Title, Meta Tags and Header Tags.

Text to HTML Ratio: Your website's ratio of text to HTML content is below 10 percent. This is an indication that your site is very code heavy and complex, making it harder for search engines to identify user content.

Number of Backlinks: You have a reasonably weak level of backlink activity or rather 0 backlinks. Search Engines use backlinks as a strong indicator of a domains authority and ranking.

I've actually tried to decrease the size of the images myself but it doesn't work for some reason. I can't figure out how to make it work. For some reason, they either come out with a big screen or not at all, and I figured it was a bad idea to not have any featured images.

Huh? I do have H1 font in my post. I have plenty of heading 1 on my posts. I use them all the time when writing

I haven't figured out how to use tags or HTML yet

I also just don't really understand what this means or how it works. I'm sorry but I'm pretty new to all of this. I don't know how to fix this problem or why it's a problem or even what it is.

Smaller images for sure. Kill all the demo content. It is all over the place. You are using the Yoast plugin for SEO which is a good plugin, but you are letting it pick the default meta. Write your own title and description.

Other than that, what don't you think that you are doing right? Content, design, or SEO? This is my blog > https://kodeakteam.com/blog/

      Demo Content?

" You are using the Yoast plugin for SEO which is a good plugin, but you are letting it pick the default meta. Write your own title and description. "

I have been writing my own meta descriptions and titles for the most part in line with what is says are good.

For me I'm worried about my content and SEO for the most part. One thing I'm worried about in my niche is how exactly to monotize the site or make money. in particular with affiliate marketing because I wondered what do you market to writers? Good books?

On top of that but I worry my content isn't very good sometimes too or maybe my niche is too broad? http://www.thewritersunblocked.com/about/

I still have trouble with SEO. I use keywords but maybe I'm not understanding them or using them right? I have different keywords depending on the post and not all of my posts use keywords in them. Typically some posts focus on one keyword in particular and I use yoast to help me put them in the right places and use them a good amount.

I'm just new to blogging and kinda stressed out a bit because of course I want to succeed. But most importantly, I just want it to be a good website that can actually be of use to people.

I think by "demo content" Jared Morgan is referring to ...

        1. Logo - As of right now, you still have the theme developers logo at the top of your site ("highend" with the diamond picture.) You should replace it with your own brand / logo.

        2. Near the bottom you still have a headline that says " Experience something completely different. The most powerful theme ever," followed by a Button Example. (theme developers demo content)

        3. Then, in your footer, the copyright says "© 2017 · Your Website. Theme by HB-Themes." for starters, change the words "your website" to the actual name of your website. Then, if you paid for the theme, you don't need to keep promoting the theme developer by keeping their link in your footer.

Worry less about SEO and more about quality content for your readers. SEO is great for search engines, and it will help some people find your site, but search engines don't buy anything... people do.

So definitely keep SEO in mind, but focus more on writing for people. Then you can share and promote your helpful articles, and writing guides, on social media (FB groups for writers, writers chat rooms, forums, etc.) You know, the place where actual people in your target audience might be?

Other than that, you're off to a good start with an interesting concept for your blog. Now, if you want to market to writers, you're going to need to keep adding useful content (a lot of it)

Keep doing what you're doing with the word of the week, and "how to" guidelines. You need to become an authority and give writers a reason to bookmark your site, and share it with others. Once you start to gain a loyal following, then you can start promoting affiliate sites, and products, etc.

Better yet, you can create and promote your own products (books, courses, one-on-one coaching?)

In fact, I'm going to bookmark your site right now. Then I'll check back in few weeks to see how you're progressing. Who knows, if you stay the course, and keep making your site more useful, maybe I'll buy something from you, some day?

        All the best,
        SAR

"Experience something completely different. The most powerful theme ever. [button example]" is at the bottom of every page.

        "© 2017 · Your Website. Theme by HB-Themes."

Your logo is that of the theme "Highend", not yours.

Your Facebook link in the top right goes to the theme's fb page, not yours.

I can keep going.... Pay more attention to detail. This will help with credibility of your site.

Images are way to big still.

As your onsite SEO, lets look at one of your posts. I randomly picked on of your giant images and landed with "beginning, middle, and end". Looks like that is your target keyword for this article. That keyword phrase gets 550 searches per month nationally. With so little volume on such a broad keyword, you will never rank for that and even if you did, you will likely get a high bounce rate on that page. Your meta description is too long {The three main components of most stories are the classic "3 act structure". Now normally these three components would be called "Setup, Confrontation, and Resolution" but for this article, I'm going to be referring to this as "beginning, middle, and end". Have you ever read a story that you were really invested in and you...}. You should keep it under 160 characters or so and put your focus word closer to the beginning.

The post category is "uncategorized". Make categories, this will help search engines know what the post is about more.

You will need to start back linking and have build a social media following if you want to get this thing off the ground. You are trying to tackle a broad market that is highly competitive. It is going to take some time and a lot of writing to make ground on the serps. What tool are you using for your keyword research?

I have looked at your website and I think you need to start from very starting. Make your website better.

Regarding its marketing .... Start from keyword research and optimize complete website on basis of the selected keywords.

Sort out all the technical issues...

I won't repeat most of the solid information you have been given from a technical point of view.
Simply looking as a "visitor" (and I'm also a writer), I can't see a way to contact you or make comments. Personally I think the domain name is confusing a little because it could look like this writer sunblocked . com Definitely something you DON'T want.

Your site is confusing as you talk about writing songs but not much else except the few posts you have published.

I hope this all makes sense to you.
