I create a website www.katdream.com.

This is not a scam and I guess that may be my number one concern or turn off in my website and I'm really here to get advice to see what people think or how can I make it better.

I have make it where people just sign up and get chance to win and looks like less than 10% of visitors actually sign up. The sign up is easy and requires really no personal sensitive info (no credit card, ssn).

The idea behind this site is to give people alternative to shopping and get their dream items at much lower cost or free.

In the nutshell, is it where put chump change towards an item then one of the contribute gets it. This way people are helping one another out and chances are much higher and more real than lottery. It is also in turns simulate the economy and give people chance to stretch their dollar otherwise just sit around or use toward something not necessary, like give more tips, parking in expensive parking, and things you can save easily and get yourself or others a chance. It is a win or consumer and business where otherwise both parties wont buy or sell their product.

I also offer many free points option and it is not the lame ads, survey, trying thing out type. I aim to make it fun, quick, engaging and easy. In turns, this will help me market and drive traffic and I put the money that would goes toward marketing back to the user. Such as share a link on their social media and get likes to earn points. I want to make earning point relevant to user and game like so it is fun and engaging.

The red print looks 'spammy' - but more than that I have no idea what the point is. Looks like a more convoluted version of the same old "win an iphone or gift certificate"combined with those "get a deal" sites. Both are businesses often considered 'scammy'.

Even after reading the "how it works" - I have no idea what you are doing. You say "no purchase necessary" but then in your instructions you say

    select products
    checkout by paying

You've explained more about the process in this thread than on the site. They are buying 'vouchers' on the chance of being the 1 in 50 who will get a cheap price? How is this different from the other 'deal sites'?

Are you saying people buy vouchers and then 1 in 50 win the product? If so, isn't that like a lottery...is it legal? I'd be surprised if Paypal allowed these payments for long.

I'm surprised that 10% of visitors sign up - do they buy? I doubt it. I think you have an idea that isn't quite put together yet.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Thanks for your comments. This is very similar to a sweepstake, but this is more itemizes than just tiers of prizes. I haven't been able to find things that is similar, please give me some example to see. While it could be gambling, no purchase necessary have done away with it. That is the reason why all sweepstake will stated that, even mcdonald's monopoly. Yes, people did buy. I just don't know how to project my ideas simple and clean. That is why I haven't really mention the earning part in the instruction, we thought it was too long and too much options.

Also, a lot of things can be consider gambling, so really depends how you see it. I guess we would be more a mild and recreational gambling if anything and you can actually play without paying and earning points is not the lame survey, watch video stuff. The big thing that set us apart from gambling is most of the contributed money goes but to one of the contributor and it is not likely people would spend significant amount on this, just like lottery. Unlike, lottery is that chances are real, people get 1 in 1000s chance everyday, but in lottery even spending millions may not give you a significant increase in chance to win.

We are legitimately trying to give them away in return for quick user sign ups. I think that is the quickest and most direct way to get people in. They can experience the site with that too, it is kind of how the site runs. We do aims to offer more free stuff or even everything for free if the income from traffic allows for. I mean we want to give people alternative at their dream and we always try think from customer perspective. We want to make it easy and fun while getting a chance at items you want. We may even be doing bigger items like houses, if we have the people and that way it can really help people get things that they really can't afford.

You mention I explained more here, but it is hard to get people to read a lot of stuff. Therefore, we kept it simple, but we did elaborate a bit in other areas of the site if people are really interested in read all that.

Another thing that sets us apart from other deal or scammy site is that we have a clear and sustainable business model. Where we are take a cut from the contributions. Unlike other site where they just claim to be free, it could be but you will never know when they select a winner or who may they be. There are no free lunch in this world and any business claim to be free is scammy because it is just not sustainable or many take too long to even see any returns. Business make you watch ads and stuff to get free things, but I don't think they really get much for a user, it could take up to millions of user to even have some return on the users. We didn't claim to give away free lunch, we just giving people a stage and an alternative at there wants and our model is pretty straightforward or may I didn't make it straightforward enough in my site, but most people wont even read or care.

Some harsh critiques if you don't mind hearing them out:

    - So much of your real estate in the top fold is wasted on pointless whitespace. You need to make the top fold a lot more compact. When I arrive at your website, I need to know exactly what your website is all about. Right now, it takes you a wall of text in this post to describe it. Use the banner ad perhaps to help describe what and who your site is for.

    - Do you really need two menubars? One of them just has Login/Register/Search Icon - wasted space is wasted opportunity for conversion.

    - The banners are crappy, low quality, take too much space, and really don't entice me to do anything other than close the tab. Pick up some stock pics and keep the text simple. Avoid the 90s glow, shadow or flaming shit effects.

    - Don't hijack my scroll. I use my laptop 12 hours a day and I'm used to it's natural scroll, your website hijacking my scroll behavior simply disrupts my user experience and benefits you in exactly zero ways.

    - Why am I seeing a My Account page when I'm not logged in?

    - Why are Shop categories being shown in the Contact page?

    - The theme of the website is very inconsistent - for instance, some buttons are red, some blue and some whiteish

    - Do a little reading on what constitutes good, readable typography. The How It Works page for instance is painful to read. The line height is too small (lines too close to each other) - why do you even have red text? Unless you want to show users' an error, you shouldn't be using red text and even then you probably should not. The distance between the paragraphs is inconsistent? The change from left-aligned text to center-aligned text is jarring. The footer on the How It Works page is also buggy.

    - I click on links under 'Others' and I get a Product not available message

    - Do you really need a forum right now? I see an empty forum and I'm immediately thinking no one visits here - why should I buy anything from them?

    - Typo in registration page (Rerred by - guess that should be Referred by)

    - Also in registration page, you're using an old school captcha, very easily broken by modern OCRs. Using google's recaptcha 2 if you really wish to avoid bot registrations.

    - Why do you need 3 separate menu items for $1, $5, $10 vouches? What if you decide to have 3 more vouchers? Why not just a single Vouchers menu that drops down to the different dollar values?

You seriously need to go through your website with a fine comb and pick up these issues. These are very very basic issues, I haven't even looked into various validation, performance, SEO, security and other issues.

Also, why do you not have an HTTPS page? There really is no excuse for not having it these days. You can pick up a free cert from LetsEncrypt (though it does requires some system admin knowledge).

And how are you accepting payments with Authorize.net? Don't even think about reading the credit cards yourself and processing payment. You need to understand PCI DSS compliance fully before you even think about doing that. Only use Authorize.net's Accept.js integration:

Sadly, it all because I use the wrong developer, who claim to be top amongst the nation. We do have SSL but it doesn't redirect and that is really sad. Everything just done poorly and not properly implemented. I kind of felt that too, but I just don't do how to point it out. My partners just want to get things started. Thanks for pointing it out. A lot of time I'm relying on my partners and web design to do the right thing. After your comment it did clear up some critical things. Unfortunately, not everything I can control, like the SSL redirect and some GUI things. I really appreciate the time you spent to point our all these things. I'll definitely look into it.

Wow a developer did this? Did they also do the graphics? Did they give you a contract? Did they send you a mock up (Sample of what you were purchasing)?
Here is what you do. Find a REPUTABLE website that you like the layout of. TYPE every change you want made (Placement, functionality, colors, positioning, layout, etc.) using a numbered list to get your site to resemble the site you want yours to look like (Do not try to explain over the phone).
Begin with a polite email explaining that your site looks totally unprofessional, the graphics look terrible and you are in need of the changes in your list so that your site resembles the sample site or a FULL refund.
If they refuse politely ask again. Then again politely for a third time and offering to even supply better graphics. Remain polite in all communication.
If they flat out refuse, let them know you will use every means at your disposal, social and otherwise to tell the world not to use their services and will be posting your entire conversation with them everywhere you can along with a link to your site.
Then find a new REPUTABLE developer to get the job done while using your country's legal means to be compensated for your losses and stress using the documents, receipts and emails. But focus on your site while trying to be compensated and do not get so bogged down with them that you lose track of your goals.

No. It depends on how law enforcement sees it. There are legal differences between a sweepstakes and a lottery so assume (?) you have professional legal advice that is guiding you on that.

Thanks for your time and comments once again. Like I said we have an No Purchase Necessary line to cover. To be consider gambling there is 3 element you have to meet, Consideration, Chance, Prize. The no purchase necessary part took care of the consideration. That is how sweepstakes runs.

Yikes! You should at least put some spaces on both sides of the page. It looks unprofessionally done. And yeah, honestly, it looks like a scam. Have you look on other sites? If not, then I suggest you start looking now so you can have a perfect view of how a site should look like.

When the site loaded, I could almost say: "Ugh, it's one of those kinds of adverts again". There's a lot of work that can be done with it and this is just the general look of the webpage. A great help would be to look at how other sites do their layout. I understand that there is a need to be unique and different from your competitors but it is also equally important to know the basics of what a good webpage layout is.

I do recommend that you shift from putting in all the functionality that you can think of right now on your site and change it into an easy user interface. Get an expert on web designing and discuss what it is you want to accomplish. Truthfully, just the homepage alone is suffocating and not user friendly

It's your site. Is 'no purchase necessary' true? My impression was you had to buy a 'chance' or 'chances' to 'win'....is that wrong? Can I send in an 'entry form' and win on your site without buying or paying for anything?

When you have partners involved it may be 'majority rules' - but at least if the site doesn't catch on you have some suggestions for things you might change.

The concept seems a bit confusing and you need to get it so that someone landing on your site accidentally or whatever gets your concept in 2 to 3 sentences if possible. Confusing concepts are very tough because people have very short attention spans so you have to do your best to simplify or get people interested enough from a quick point to want to read more.
From a aesthetics perspective starting at the top. Get rid of the red and go dark with white lettering. The red with light purple Register | Login links is blinding and hard to read.
Then your menu is too long. instead of $1 VOUCHER $2 VOUCHER etc. Perhaps make one menu called Voucher with drop downs.
Move the Shopping cart to the right of search, Move Register | Login left and make the search input field visible at all times and embedded in the same top bar. I would make the top bar taller and place the logo within it as well similar to the top of this warrior page and have the banner connected beneath without any space or very little.
Next the banner is moving too fast to read for many, contains too much text, the graphics are all over the place, do no complement each other, and the the font and images is pixelated. You'd be better off going with free stock photography of real people holding gadgets similar to the prizes with plain white text making quick points to get users interested like. "Would you like a Free Iphone 7?", "Want to win a $50 Amazon gift card?" One liners that peek interest with a click here call to action, that links to right to the details / email registration.
Check out this site fashionnova.com (not mine). It has a great slider, so you get the point of slider speed, look and call to action concept I'm talking about.
The beveling, embossing, and extreme drop shadows are what we were doing 20 years ago while having fun with Photoshop features, simplify and make it clean. A quick tip on your 4th slider image with the curved arrow is to make the arrow in PowerPoint right click and export it as as a .png or whatever so that your arrow will have smooth curves, right now it's very choppy and drawing them in illustrator can be hard for the uninitiated. : )
    Next the red text.
Sign Up > Select wanted product > Checkout > Pull winner > Tracking code (Details) is positioned in a odd place and very confusing.
Looks like you did a good job on the product row only critique there would to go with 4 larger images if possible instead of 6, keep them steady remove the frames and go with more rows. But if you move the slider to be flushed top you can show all 12.
Or have 3 to 4 sliders that relate to the prizes. Tech, Fashion, Cleaning gadget, health gadgets with call to actions that try to steer the user to a category they are interested in and have the site scroll down to a row or load a page with the prizes they are interested in based on the slider call to action clicked. That slider and everything else has to be though of as tools used to quickly inform while steering the user.
    Hope that helps. take care.

That is the scammiest looking site I have seen in some time. Even if it is not a scam it looks like one and most web surfers would click away in an instant fearing virus attack.

As the other poster stated, it is totally unclear what is going on at the site.

Are you selling goods, vouchers, points, a raffle?????? after 10 minutes reading the site I am still none the wiser.

    But thanks for the laugh.

More space on the sides of the page, more prominent buttons to scroll through these large slides. You probably do not want to rebuild the entire page, so I do not know. It's simple, that's good.
