May sound simple...but I'm not sure of the answer

Here is the short version..

All my IM experience is with affiliate marketing so I haven't had to worry or think about this question.

but....

We have now created several of our own products and ebooks that we are getting ready to start promoting.

the question is:

How do I upload my ebook to a download page that will be easiest for my customers to access after they have paid? its in pdf form

    Hi. This turns out to be more complex than it looks, so don't feel bad for asking.

    Be sure to consider security of your product as well as ease of use for your customers. In other words, if you make it too easy you may be opening yourself to theft.

      thanks for your prompt response Steve..

      I have been working on this the last couple of hours to try to figure it out own my own...but then instead of acting like a Man and not asking for help ( because i really needed it)

      I decided to ask some of my fellow warriors. Why didn't i do this hours ago?

      Folks, those methods are not secure. This is the same misinformation that gets repeated over and over, here in the WF and all over the web. Drives me crazy.

      For gosh sakes, you could at least read the threads I linked to in my previous post before you write this kind of nonsense. Not cool.

        I would sell your product through Clickbank, Paydotcom, or something similar.

        They will encrypt your download page for you and send the customer to your download page after payment.

        People can get around pretty much any security measures you take, but the people going through the steps to steal your ebook most likely weren't going to pay for it anyway. Don't sweat people stealing your stuff or serial refunders that you will come across from time to time. The world is Big.

        The downside to Clickbank they charge 49.95 for your first product and 29.95 for each new product you have after that. Actually each product after that is Free. It's only 29.95 if you want a separate account for each product.

        Clickbank:
        Will help you attract affiliates easily (from experience IT REALLY WILL)
        Will help you manage refunds and pays your affiliates for you
        Takes awhile to get your money

        Paydotcom is similar except you:
        don't have to pay for additional products
        don't have to wait for your product to be approved
        don't have the restrictions of what you can say on your salespage and the type of product like Clickbank
        You do get the payments instantly to your Paypal account with Paydotcom
        You Do have to pay your affiliates yourself and in my experience you don't get the same amount of exposure or affiliates as you get from Clickbank

        I use both of these for different types of products. I would highly suggest using one of these two sites. There are scripts you can use, but the benefits you get from these sites are definitely worth it in my opinion.

    Having sold hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of my own eBooks over the last decade I never worry about the theft of my product. I have found that most of the people I deal with turn out to be straight shooters who will not forward my eBook to their friends. The amount of extra steps you have to go through to encrypt an eBook is just gobbly gook techies put together so you will include them in the equation.

    When someone purchases an eBook from me I forward them to another domain's interior page with a thank you form on it. In order to retrieve the download link the customer has to fill the form out and then they receive the download link via an autoresponder message.

    If you really are worried you're going to get ripped off put some sort of marketing info on it pitching another one of your products so at least if someone swipes it you'll get the advertising.

    But like I said I have sold ten of thousands of eBooks over the last decade and never worry about my product being ripped.

    But that's just me.

    I would focus your attention more on the marketing of your eBooks rather than on the encrypting of them.

      No, they don't encrypt your download page for you. They do give you tools that let you protect your download page, but most vendors don't even bother to use them.

      Also, note that protecting your download page isn't the same as protecting your download links. If the only protection for the links is cryptic names, you're asking for trouble.

      I don't advocate encrypting the product either. But I strongly believe in protecting your download pages and download links properly. If you don't, you're inviting theft. Why would you want to make it any easier for the pirates?

      E-junkie is just five bucks a month, easy to use, integrates with just about all the common payment processors, and gives you unbreakable protection for your download links. Other 3rd party services and scripts do the same.

    Hey guys,
    I'm really new here so pardon me if I sound like a jerk . The solid truth in this virtual world is just one guys. And that is "there is no end to piracy". The big problem is, the more we fight against it, the more famous it gets. And the more investment is led into it. Here is an example.

    Compare Aple and Microfost. While I believe that both do not support piracy, the latter has invested so much money in protecting their products while the former didn't really bother much about it. WGA validation, OME keys blacklist, etc etc. These are the terms you have seen in Microfost, but have you ever heard it in Aple? No. My assumption is, Aple is smart enough to think that there is no end to piracy and that it is foolish to invest so much money into something that will have no end at all.

    Now, my point here is, if you are thinking that you will totally secure your products 100% and it will never create a loophole of piracy, give up. Put it this way:

    1. You will invest in a little tight security application, encrypt links, push products, etc etc and you manage to secure it for a little longer than what you would on normal shopping cart.

    2. You just put it up and make it available to your target clients and wait for the little earnings that you will make.

    Difference between (1) and (2) would just be that you spend less time on the second one. End of the day, the earnings you get will pretty much sum to almost the same. Much that you try, if you protect your stuff, it will still be available out there soon. If it does, I just conclude it as one thing - your product is awesome and people try really hard to get it
