Camtasia 6 and .mod files

Should it really be this difficult???!!!

I have a Canon camcorder that creates its files in .mod format (god knows why!)

I've tried several programs to convert these mod files into a usable format such as .avi or .mpg. Currently I'm using Tipard MOD Converter (recommended in the Camtasia forum).

No matter what type of format I convert to, Camtasia gives me a Error: No Codec Available to render this file. Windows Media Player won't play the files either (sometimes I get just audio and no video, other formats won't play at all).

I'm hoping someone here ran across this and found a solution. I can't imagine I'm the only poor sap with a Canon camera wanting to make the video usable.

I submitted this problem to both Camtasia and Tipard support yesterday, but no response yet.

SO FRUSTRATING!!!

You could try getting the ffdshow codec pack but I don't think it will work.

I've seen this error before and ended up just getting a file type which Camtasia liked. I don't remember which file type I was using.

Just out of interest does the camera record to Hard Drive? I fso that's the same problem I found before.

Why not try rendering the video into .mpg instead of converting... I use Sony Vegas Pro but Movie Studio is just as good.

Hope you get it fixed mate!

I had the exact same problem. You need this program to convert those mod files into a usable format such as .avi or .mpg:

      WinAVI Video Converter 9.

      Have a nice day.

I'm a software engineer myself, so I have a pretty high standard when it comes to the software I use. Pavtube MOD converter has lived up to or exceeded my expectations. I really liked how your trial version provided full access to the functions of the software. It allowed me to test the conversion quality. I knew without a doubt that Pavtube will work for me, so I was not hesitant to purchase it at all.

You can test it too.Google it.
