Can You Add Tables And Grids To A Wordpress Site?

I was wondering if you can do this successfully in WP.
I'm using WP as cms and I wanted multiple products on a static homepage linking to internal pages.
I'm good with the linking and creating static pages, I can't figure out how to
get a table or grid appearance.
I know it can definitely be done in html.
I was hoping there is a way to do it in WP.

Hi Naima,

There are some ecommerce plugins for WP available that are designed to create an estore type of site with multiple products in a grid pattern that may do exactly what you want. A search or two should turn up some possibilities.

You could potentially use a gallery plugin if that was the type of thing you were after and use the images to link to internal pages, some also allow you to put text underneath.

You may also want to consider a Wordpress gallery style/magazine style theme which has this layout by default on the home page.

Otherwise, you can actually manually do this while adding a post / page. There is a Visual and HTML view where you include your posts. If you want to do some manual table addition, you can just add those HTML tags there (while HTML input type selected). There are several possibilities to present your products. If you want higher tech and have a little PHP understanding, you may edit the theme you're using too :D

Good Luck..

Thanks for your replies.
@Les & Ben I'll look into the gallery plugin option.
It may be the easiest option.
Failing that I'll look for a magazine theme (last option because I love the theme I'm using as it's very specific to my niche.)

@ LimeDesign I thought of building the grid using my html editor and then copying the code and entering it into the html tab of my page.
Would that work?

Thanks
Naima

@star lit, of course :) You can test it out first, and then copy and paste that text into the post of your choice. Just remember, if you are using CSS for your tables, you may want to update the CSS file of the theme or maybe add the tags in the elements of table respectively :)

Check out this plug-in "Tinymce" This gives you a lot more editing power! So far it seems to work very well. You can drag and drop many different components into the tool bar including a table function...
