I never both with a link to my sitemap in the footer, becuaser the place the search engines would prefer to find it is in the robots.txt file So edit your robots.txt file to look something like the following : User-agent: * Disallow: sitemap : http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml If you don't know how to make a google sitemap file, then just Google the term and there are dozens of free tools to do it. If you are running WP, then there is a wordpress plugin that you can install and it will automatically create a new sitemap for you everytime you make a new post. Works very well, and I have it installed on all my blogs Get it here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...r/screenshots/ Hope this helps Bruce |

Thanks for your help Bruce, I already have an xml site map plug-in installed and have submitted it to Google a while ago my site is indexed in the number 6 spot for my main keyword. I just wondered If I should have a sitemap page on my blog with actual html links to all my posts and pages, I am unsure If I should add one or leave it out? |

I wouldn't bother with a html version of your sitemap, unless its vitally important for uour visitors. i find these sitemaps a pain to keep updated and they become really big, really quicly.. take care Bruce |

A sitemap helps the search engines to index your site easily. A Xml sitemap is a very useful and fast way to create. Read Submit Xml Sitemap To Major Search Engines Fast And Free Why do we need to place it at the footer most of the time, is because sitemaps is not very important to human readers. Some do not even know what are sitemaps, what they are looking for is content and how it can help them. |
