Article Marketing Penalty???

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, so let me know if this needs to be moved.

Question about article marketing. I had a page on one of my websites show up in google results at position #43 give or take a couple spots (not the greatest I know, but showing none the less). Over the last couple days I submitted 4 completely different articles to different article directories hoping to get some backlinks and maybe increase rank, of which only one has been indexed so far. I happend to check the search results this morning, and now that page is nowhere to be found. The articles I submitted did have one or two links to the page that was showing up at #43. Am I being penalized for the articles?

Google seems to be weirded out lately. The one site I work on the most is dropping and my other site I'be done nothing to for a year is going up.

Very strange and frustrating.

It take some time to see the result, even if you have submitted to a very high ranking and well indexed article site. It will still take you months to see the result.

No one knows how Google works. I had the same thing with my blog. You should wait a little.
