Default Website editing question

Hi,

I saw a typo on a friend's website and I was wondering if I could easily correct it for them. He went through a professional webdesigner and I don't think he knows how to edit the webpages.

Here is my thoughts. I clicked View > Source and them found the piece of text that had the typo and corrected it. Now at this point how do I get the corrected html onto his sight. I know one way is to get his login info and ftp. But is there a way to send him the corrected html in notepad and then he can ftp it?

How would he go about doing this?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Ken

Unless his site is only HTML (static) and has no dynamic programming (php, asp, etc, WordPress), you will break it by uploading the file you corrected. Most of the time, you can tell if it is static by looking at the file name in the address bar - if it ends in .php, .asp, .cfm, .aspx - anything but .htm or .html - it is dynamic, not static. EVEN IF it ends in .html, it still could be a dynamic site... so...

Even if it is HTML only, he should send you the source file so you can make the change and send it back to him - he should have his own FTP login info. That is the best way. If it is a dynamic site like WordPress, then he will need to make the change in the WordPress admin system.

I hope this helps.

If you need more help, let me know.
