Wordpress - (www) or (no www)? - how do I know?

WEB DESIGN

I have been building some backlinks with anchor text on different sites to my blog, but they are not getting indexed.

When I went back to look at some of the sites I left links on, I found that I had put:
http://website.com instead of http://www.website.com

Does that matter? Will they still help my SEO efforts? Or do I need to go back and change them...

I'm using Wordpress and to be honest, I don't even know if my site uses WWW. The website is: Jesus Action Figure - With Superhero Magic Powers

I notice when I type it into my URL with WWW into Firefox and hit enter, it reverts/changes to Jesus Action Figure - With Superhero Magic Powers

It doesn't matter as long as your hosting provider has set up a redirect between the two (which is a default setting for decent hosting providers).

Also you can access Google Webmaster's Tools in your Google account, register your blog and tell Google to consider both versions.

Then you'll have no problems.

  Just go to settings/general and see what the url of your blog is Change it to what you want ie www or http don't build links to both or they will be split - choose one or the other. If you've already started building and got links go to google webmaster tools and change it to the url you want to use

Ok, I looked at wordpress settings and it shows without www. I looked at webmaster tools and it shows the same. I guess I just have to remember now to NOT use www when backlink building. It's funny, I never choose that option during wordpress setup- I guess I got lucky.

If you're familiar with accessing and editing .htaccess files, if you're on a certain server setup, you can include a few lines of code to ensure that any non-www links are automatically 301 redirected to their www equivalent:

RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.yourdomain.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301]
