Hi, I have a problem getting internet explorer 7 to display my .swf and .flv videos on my webpage - it works fine in firefox. Internet explorer 6 and 7 block the active x content and you have to click to allow it to run. Not a problem for me, and it will probably be fine if Internet Explorer 8 is installed, but this is not ok for other users looking at my website... any help (or where to look) would be most appreciated. |

Hi Michelle, How are you embedding your SWF and video player on your web page? There will certainly be an issue in Internet Explorer 6 if you're directly embedding them - this is due to a licensing issue over automatically playing content, which is something Internet Explorer 6 never had. Usually SWFObject is used to embed SWF's in your web page - it's a Javascript plugin which gracefully degrades for those who don't have Flash installed. For video, I've always used Flowplayer, which again uses a similar embedding method. The above two methods have caused me no issues in Internet Explorer 6 or 7. Tim. |

Hi Tim, I assume I'm directly embedding them? I used dreamweaver insert media menu. I have had a look at the SWFObject but I think it will take me too long to get my head around implementing that myself, would Flowplayer automate this for me to make it quicker and easier. Many thanks for your help Michelle |
