Hello warriors,

I'm writing an ebook, I'm about half way done with it and decided to get cranking on the website that will sell it. Problem is that I'm tech impaired. I've used frontpage to build some websites a few years ago. but I sometimes would screw up publishing the page and uploading them to webhosting.

So my question is, what would be the easiest way for me to set up this website to sell the ebook? I hear a lot of people advising beginners to use WordPress. would that be a good bet for this too? How do I use wordpress? I get a template and upload the tempalte to my hosting service?

Should I just suck it up and learn how to use dreamweaver (quanta plus in my case since I run ubuntu)

Thanks,

Edge

    Hi Edge,
Word press is quite easy to use once you get your head around it. If you send me an email I'll send you a very good manual I have. Free of Charge.
It will also give you the ability to ad to your site as time goes on and you will be able to set up members areas very easily if you went down that route. WP is easy to set up for search engine op as well.
    What is your email address?

      Hello Edge,

I think the most easy to sell ebook using MiniSite.
and change the content by using the Dreamweaver software.
MiniSite I can design it for you and for free.
then you just input the site's content or change this by using Adobe's Dreamweaver.
      PM me okay.

If someone is a newbie - would you necessarily recommend using dreamweaver or wordpress or nvu or frontpage? Which is the easiest html editor to use?

Well, you have a couple of options and each has it's own set of Pro's and Con's

    1) Wordpress is a good option, but you need to get your head around the way it works. This can be a good skill to acquire if you want to build more and more sites or intend to do some blogging in support of your product.

    2) XSitePro is good... This product will hold your hand and help you develop web sites. It has a lot of tools built in... I think the latest version is around the $200 mark, but you need to Google them and find out for sure.

    3) If you look in my Signature, you will see that I have the Power Sales Letter Creator. This is a very easy to use product that will build a sales page for you. You still need to upload it to your server, but tit really is simple and the price is only $9.95

You will need to measure what it is you want to accomplish and how much time you want to learn your toolset. If you need something right away and want to get started, my tool may be the best for you. If you want to develop a wide range of sites over time and like to learn new things, Dreamweaver is the best of the best ofr site development... It's not cheap, but it is very good.

    Have a Great Day!

  • Listen...I sell e-books too.

Download a free 30 day trial of Dreamweaver CS4 at adobe.com

Also Lynda.com has terrific tutorials on how to use Dreamweaver templates to build a quick and easy website.

Don't go for the quick easy way out because you will find you need to add and make your website better as time goes on. If you don't learn how to tweak your site using basic html / CSS, you will regret it. I know I did.

Go for Adobe products vs Microsoft. Microsoft Expression (upgraded Frontpage) is light years behind DW CS4 now.

    Good luck!

I have created several sites for ebook authors using a variety of software options. The easiest way for you to go is to have someone build the site for you, so you can focus on marketing efforts.

You could expect to have a decent mini site put together for you for about $300 so I have to wonder why you would consider buying software that costs that much and commit to spending a lot of time trying to figure it out when you really need to spend your time tweaking your ebook and developing your marketing plan.

A mini site would ideally provide you with a namesqueeze page, contact page, privacy page, terms of use page, thank you for subscribing page, and your sales page. It's easy to set things up for multiple landing pages so that you could target the sales page towards JV's, various price points for deals like the MySilentTeam Bonus Pool or the WSO.

I've put in the time it takes to learn how to get the job done but I wouldn't advise everyone go that route. If you have a viable product and a passion to get it out there, you really need to consider having the site created for you. Once you know what you want and understand how it is to function, having it created to your specifications is not difficult.

Look for a flat fee package deal and someone easy to work with. In this economy you will find people ready and willing to help you get the site done quickly.

    Best wishes,

    Leslie
