Hi all, Have a question. Why does my site view ok if using Firefox but when viewed in IE7 its all over the place. Masive caps in the text, pictures not aligned correct. Just genrally looks awfull. I don't want to try and drive traffic to this site as a lot of web users will be using IE7 or other IE browsers. Any solutions or other members had this problem. Cheers Craig |

It sounds like you have a problem with your CSS. IE7 doesn't support the full range of CSS 2.1 attributes and handles some properties incorrectly. As such, it has a lot of known layout issues. One of the biggest annoyances as a web designer is getting sites to look the same across many browsers. There is no quick-fix solution, as the problems generally vary so greatly from site to site and can be caused by a hundred different things. One of the quickest solutions would be to offer up a separate stylesheet using conditional tags in your HTML, and put all of your CSS fixes in there. Si |

A reset CSS stylesheet can also help, as it aims to neutralise some of the differences between web browsers (bearing in mind you've got IE6, 7 and 8 - mentioned seperately as they each behave differently, Firefox 3, 3.5, Safari 4, Google Chrome 2 and Opera, as well as a few others). See Eric's Archived Thoughts: Reset Reloaded for more information. Chances are you'll need to redo some of your CSS or HTML markup - oh, and practice makes perfect. You'll quickly get to know the common quirks amongst browsers and how to avoid them. |
