Can someone recommend a guide??

I know some basic HTML, in other words I can take a website and make changes, and I am not afraid to go into the source code and play with it a bit.

I know NOTHING about CSS or PHP, and I am starting to feel that I need to know at least some basics on those as well. I have no desire to build anything from scratch, but I do like to be able to tinker with things a little on my own without feeling like I am totally feeling my way in the dark.

So I guess what I am looking for is a basic guide that kind of goes over some of this in non-geek-speak. Strictly beginner stuff, but a useful guide, not a text book.

Any of you smart folks have a recommendation?

    Hi Teresa

There is always the best online resource - the W3 Schools:

    W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

Follow their tutorials from beginning to end, they are short, fun and they build upon one another. They not only give you theory and examples, they also have an online editor so you can "play" with the code and examine the results in real time.

I highly recommend you make full use of this awesome free resource.

Best of luck with your studies...

Well, now I am slapping the palm to the forehead.. I knew about W3 schools, don't know why I didn't think of it. I think I was in an Amazon frame of mind, mostly because I have a gift card from there.

      Thanks, Bill!
