Default How much Overhauling for SEO is too much ?

Hey there

I'm about to buy a Website which is already indexed in Google with a fairly good rank for one competitive keyword, domain is a few month old.

My Questions:

-Will the Host switch influence the indexing ?
-The on page SEO isn't as good as it should be. How fast should I optimize things for that I won't drop in rankings ?
- Will a domain reorganization, getting more pages indexed, be beneficial or will it hurt me.

I know that nobody here is Mr. Google, so maybe you can just give me a guess based on your experience.

Thanks a lot.

G.

Shouldn't do, try to avoid downtime, if the site becomes unreachable for a time, it will affect rank.

I don't know that this will affect page rank directly, but the more often you change things the more often the page is indexed which can help improve page rank.

My suggestion is to change one thing at a time and track the response. You will also get measurable data based on each change. But sometimes that won't be possible. I would suggest that you start with the big changes, that is the ones that you think are going to make the best difference.

If you rename the page, or its path, then google will see it as a duplicate page and you will be penalised. However if you change the page and place it somewhere else then it won't be seen as a duplicate page.

Alternatively look at Googles instructions on moving domains/ sites. I haven't used this process, so I don't know how it works.

I wouldn't worry about changing hosts.

I also would do it in say a 1 month increments as far as changes. So do your major changes over a period of 3 months (33.3% of change each month)
