Hi, I've built a website from scratch for a good friend of mine. I want you to give me your honest opinion on everything please. I'm not going to show it to him until I have a nice percentage of positive feedback. The site can be viewed here |

Well, while your using Css 2.1 and xhtml standards (This is a good thing), the actual design itself looks like an old schools mid 90's style web site. An idea would be to look at other insurance based websites to get some inspiration for design and layout. |

I don't know why but looking at your site using Firefox I find your formatting is all messed up. Text is bunched up and tables are over lapping each other. Did you set this up looking at it with windows explorer? I'd find a site that you really think looks great and in the file menu click on view and than page source and take a look at what they did on that site. Good Luck! Mm |

Hey thanks everybody! Yea, the guy wanted it kind of simple, but after the reviews we're going to have to go ahead and pimp that baby out like I really want to! As far as the overlapping, I had to go and delete some hidden images. As of now I have it offline and will be working on it tonight. Thanks, Jeff |

I got a 500 error message when I tried to view the site. Did you take it down or something?

I'd definitely replace the watermarked stock photo, for starts. Why not check online for free templates? There's heaps of good quality ones, which you can tweak to your liking. You'll need to fix your images too, they are squished and squashed every which way. Also, design aside, the index page has no real content. There should be something on the page to get me interested, at the very least. |

I have to go with Bellamy and say that a ready made template might be a good idea. Is Coffee Cup what you are using to optimize the images? Because they all look really pixelated on my computer. If you are doing this as a favor for a friend, I suppose it's fine, but look at the source of the page and tell me what you see. Can you easily tell what the page is about? Because a search engine doesn't see your images or graphics, it sees the code of your page. There is a lot of extraneous mark up on that page, and while it isn't as bad as the garbage a "site" made by MS Publisher will spit out, the way it is formatted isn't ideal. Web design programs are great when they are used as a tool to speed up the process, but they should never be used as a crutch. Properly formatted HTML does matter when it comes to search engine results. |

Following from that, if you're looking for a cheap image editor, download GIMP for free.

I could state a couple things, simply based on my first impression, but I will start off with the most important thing. This MUST be done. 1. You need a headline, something in bigger print towards the top, above the insurance buttons. This headline should explain your general mission statement. Do that, you should be good. |

Your site graphics is a disaster. Try to use some free templates and clean pics(the families on first page).

There is something about the text that looks bad, not sure what would make it better though.
