Hi guys, I am hoping someone can help me here, my hosting company has tried to help me but they keep saying that it must be my browser. Its not, as I have tried in firefox and ie on two different computers. What is happening is, I try to change a page, or even add a whole new page, but they wont show up on the internet. What is strange is that for instance, I completely deleted the index page and made a new one, but the old one still shows up on the internet! But in cpanel, if I click the edit HTML button, it will show the new page. Not only that but since this started happening, 5 days ago, my stats are no longer showing. The past 5 days show 0. But my hosting company says that when they go in and look, they can see the stats. I attached a screen shot of my cpanel file manager, as you can see, there is a page named "graphics" yet if you go to: http://www.theweekendworker.com/graphics.htm It is really frustrating, I cannot update, or add anything! |

the problem is your existing site is in WordPress...if you do not want to use WordPress and you want a normal static site, delete your WordPress installation. So delete all files in your root folder except for your new pages. or if you want to keep your WordPress site, login to your WordPress dashboard and create your pages through there. You can also change your home page from your WordPress dashboard too. |

But I have had wordpress on my site since it was built. I didnt update wordpress or anything to cause a problem with cpanel. The problem is with cpanel not updating the pages, not showing the new pages, only the old ones, which I deleted. Also I guess I should be clear, the page that you get to by the link is NOT what is on my graphics page, that is a 404 error page. So it is saying that there is no page named graphics.html, but there is.

have you checked your server to make sure your hosts did not change your computer. i had something similar happen once just middle of the night im workin and im deleting and it shows gone or uploaded and nothing changes.. and im pullin my hair out.. then i notice in my panel that the server name has changed from what its always been to some new name... so for some reason they copied the server and changed it, my ftp was still uploading to the old server/host/ip so nothing changed. so if i were you maby check DNS and make sure your sites really where you think it is.. could be why stats is not working too |

This sounds plausible as that is what it feels like, it feels like I have been "locked out" so to speak, I cant change or do anything. How would one go about checking the DNS? or to see if it has moved. I am very techie illiterate so I have no idea how to check! Iwouldnt even know what my server was named before, is this something I need my host to check? Thanks again for the help

now I understand, Ashley! there is definitely something fishy happening on your server and you should get a hold of your web host. If they take too long responding to your support ticket, get on the phone to them because if you created a file called graphics.html or .htm it doesn't matter, you should still be able to have static files and WordPress working together as long as you link to them properly...what I was referring to above were the index files...because WordPress uses index.php and you can't have both index.html and index.php running at the same time...anyway..I hope you get it sorted soon. by the way, that's an interesting business you have there...I saw your new salespage...good luck! |
