I run a closed forum with tons of embedded video. When you view the source code you can easily get the location of the video. Is there any way to hide the actual location of the file that's being streamed so it can't be ripped?

If you use a SWF file that loads the video from a encrypted link, maybe...?
I don't know if it will work.

    Making items non-rippable isn't easy.
Only secure solution is not to post them.
But, if you need to, you need to.

Flash is one thing is more difficult to rip.
You can download it if you know how.
You need to make the link to the SWF/FLV file
harder to understand and encrypt it somehow.

Perhaps cloaking your links to the .swfs with a 301 redirect might work?

This probably belongs in the programming forum, not the website design forum.

In any case, it's not possible to protect you videos. Period. That's the nature of the web.

The fact that the end user can watch the video means that all the bytes are coming from your server to the user's browser. In other words, anybody savvy enough can easily get a full copy of the video whether it is being progressively downloaded or streamed.
