I would download Notepad++ because you can use it to edit any kind of code, not just PHP

I use EditPlus, it's free, you can edit just about anything, and it's got an FTP client built into it. But there really isn't a WYSIWYG PHP editor, unless you count Delphi for PHP. PHP Doesn't do layout, the HTML, XHTML, etc does the layout. -Brad |

I recomend you Codelobster PHP Edition. It's most powerful among free code editors. Some advantages of this editor are: intellectual autocomplete, FTP, folding code, navigation with Ctrl for all links and descriptions and incremental searching Important feature of this editor is presence of special plugins for Drupal CMS, Joomla CMS, Smarty template engine, JQuery library, CodeIgniter framework, CakePHP framework, Facebook social network and WordPress blogging platform. Also i want to pay your attention to the option Portable codelobster.com |

The best free PHP editors I've used are gPHPEdit (for Linux) and EditPlus (for Windows).

I, too, use NetBeans. It is very powerful. More importantly, it's free.

I started with Microsoft FrontPage which is cool as it has all the features built in and is easy to learn from the help pages. I now use Macromedia and even BlueVoda on occasion. |
