Wordpress as a non-blogging tool?

Does anyone use here Wordpress as a static website? Can you produce a pro look with it? For example:

If you could link some of your sites in here, it would be great!

I have used WP as a non blogging tool, is this something you are looking to do, or see if it's worth while?

I use WP for everything now.

For static sites I just set the homepage to a certain post so that always stays.

Then just create pages for everything else and add the links to them in the sidebar or wherever.

I build lots of WordPress sites and none of them are blogs. The standard method is to just set the Home page to be a static page and move the Posts page to a "News" or similar page.

I haven't done it myself but will start to once I learn it better.

One advantage friends have reported is fast indexing. Once the site starts pinging blog directory sites, etc., its like a built-in SEO jump start.
