Good afternoon everyone! When someone clicks on my RSS icon to subscribe to my feed they get the following message: XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity Location: Smart Business Owners Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> ^ Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks! Merlyn |

Hi Merlyn, very strange! you have a couple of choices as to how to fix it:
those 3 files need to be FTP'd to your blog's root directory |

you have a blank line at the top of your rss file when its outputed thats whats causing the errors, best bet is to reinstall the wp-includes folder which has the real rss files the wp-feed wprss2 wp-rss files are actually deprecated and not even used except for backward compatability. Also some themes cause it. but here are to links to 2 seperate fixes incase reuploading from a FRESH folder do not work. Wordpress leading whitespace fix w3it.org – Internet Helper Wordpress: feed output error solution. How to remove white spaces and fix problems they involve some work. .. try reinstalling the wp-includes folder/files in it first from a fresh download of wp. Hope this helps |
