I installed Magento shopping cart on my website but the home page is blank. It doesn't show any products or categories. It just says "Home Page". And I created two categories and products and uploaded product images in the back end admin panel but still nothing shows up. Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? I posted to the Magento forums but no response, and searched google but didn't find anything.

The website I am talking about is
Home page

Also if you know how to move the shopping cart to the main directory of to domain that would be great too.

Thanks.

I don't really know anything about Magento, but I thought I could draw on my Joomla experiences to help ... although I'm not sure I have come up with anything useful for you. However, here's my thoughts and findings that might just provide a clue ...

    1. In Joomla when you do an installation you get a choice whether to install the demo data - Do you get the same in Magento and if so did you say 'yes'? You should opt to install demo data until you become really proficient, otherwise you end up with a blank installation.
    2. Again, in Joomla, there is a configuration.php file which sets things like the live domain, the database to be used by the program etc etc. You could see if there is a configuration.php file in your site directory - open it in an html editor or wordpad and check the settings and paths. Take a copy first.
    3. Finally, I did a google search for magento installation blank page and came up with quite a selection of techie forum postings . It would appear that your problem is quite common. Typical issues seemed to be:-
    • compatibility between different versions of Magento and PHP, or
    • PHP memory allocation issues
Keep trying different search terms in Google and you might find other reasons.

I use Joomlart [joomlart.com] for Joomla templates and they also do Magento templates too. I find that the quickstart installations which include the Joomla system (or Magento for you), plus the template and various additional features along with demo data, is a really great way to do an installation. It might be worth checking out because the forum and support is good and their instructions tell you exactly what you need (server stuff, PHP versions etc).

Hope that helps a bit and that you can find a pointer in there somewhere.
