So you don't have to manually upload images to your web server for Wordpress?

I always thought you have to FTP the images onto the web server
first and then use them as embeds to your posts/pages for your site.
I believe this was the case in Kompozer.

But I just found that you can simply use the Upload option in
Wordpress when you are creating/editing a page-click From Computer-
click insert in post and the image directly uploads to the web
server in the uploads folder. Is my understanding correct?

Does this also mean that I don't have to create any Image folder
in the web server and FTP images to be used later (thought it
was a good practice so you don't have to search everytime) and
all the images, when used the Upload option, would automatically
be transferred to the uploads folder?

Thanks!

The image folder is automatically created by wordpress. Your uploaded image files are placed in the uploads folder where they are organized in years and months folder.

Thanks Sakto. So, no need to manually FTP the images onto the
web server for using them in posts/pages?
