Buy a book or watch a tutorial video. The info is pre organized. If you search the net it is more difficult putting the pieces together. Unless the webpage is written for newbies. |

A quick way to use a WYSIWYG editor like Frontpage or Dreamweaver in split view. Then you can see the code as it is being generated, you will pick it up in couple of weeks.

I learnt by creating a basic site using a notepad editor and the browser.. use a site called htmldog and follow the tutorials..make sure you practice each html tag and understand what each tag does. Use w3schools.com it is a great resource also. Also practice using free web templates, try editing them and figure out how it was created..try to manipulate it to create your own templates. Just google "free web templates" or use Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates. And just practice...practice..practice |

Well, one of the easiest ways to learn HTML is going in related forums and consult and ask people what you want to know. Take reference of help sites and friends. No one single platform can make you perfect as an actual project. Take a project and start on it. This is the best way to learn.

w3schools (dot) com I suggest you the above site. Just apply and see all step by step. After that you can study other languages also from. Never study in one strech. Spend a little time for studying and spent maximum time on applying. Html is much, once you study you will wonder, its nothing complicated. No programming skills also required for basic Html things. All the best. |

I've just recently started learning CSS - I wish I'd done it sooner because some things that are really painful to figure out in HTML are easy with CSS. Basic HTML like <Strong> tags are good to know, but in usage I only use about 10 different tags. That's it. Everything else I use CSS, or a WYSIWYG editor to generate the HTML or CSS. If you use Wordpress you have to study CSS to customize themes because HTML tables sometimes do weird things in WP. CSS is more reliable. |

Which books are better to learn HTML easily? Can you mention the name of the author and its price too? HTML is so useful and a rare necessity for all web developers and online enthusiasts. Thanks for the reply.

Unless you have $200+ to burn I wouldn't suggest getting Dreamweaver. Google "Notepad++" and install that. It's a basic text editor like notepad but it has line numbers and coloured tags for easy reading. As for tutorials, purchase a proper book by a publisher such as "SAMS Teach Yourself", "Apress" and "O'Reilly". Also visit w3schools.com for good beginner tutorials. |

The w3c has all sorts of awesome tutorials for beginners and is a good reference for when you're well versed too. The up side of learning through the w3c is that you will produce valid code, inherently making your websites more usable, accessible and cross-broswer compatible. Photoshop skills would also help so have a look at Pixel2Life as there are loads of tutorials there also. Aside from this look at how other websites are built using View Source, actually analyse the source and css to see how they position and stack items and such. And as a last point... Try to follow the trend for as little time as possible, when you first start out copying other design practises is fine but eventually (and usually automatically) you should develop your own unique design style. |

Use the dreamweaver environment so that it will not be hard on your part to memorize all the tags on html and also try to download e-books on it. Good luck!

One way to learn them is to view the source of a webpage and decipher them. Right click and select 'View source page'. Save them into a notepad. |

+1 on w3 schools. I'm relearning HTML from there, and will move onto CSS and PHP next. A good, free alternative to Dreamweaver is Kompozer. Open source, not as flashy but gets the job done as far as WYSIWYG is concerned. |

Agreed! I bought Dreamweaver several years ago. Found it to be clunky and made simple tasks complicated. So abandoned it! HTML - The best way to learn anything is by actually doing it. So, do something in a wysiwyg editor and then view the code, familiarise yourself with its beginning and end and make amendments. Use copy & paste to restore normality! Practise, trial and error, will teach you much more than dry tutorials. | |

As someone has already mentioned it is very helpful to use an editor like Dreamweaver in the "split" view because you can write stuff and apply tags like <h1> and then in the "code" view you actually see what the code looks like. I think this approach is very helpful in teaching you how the tags are used. Also as someone else has already mentioned there are only about a half dozen tags that you will use all the time. The other thing you need to learn is CSS and or styling. This is also very easy to learn in an editor. Styling and CSS are essentially the same thing. Styling is applied directly inline on the page and CSS is a method of keeping all of your styling in one location which for a number of reasons is much easier to maintain. |

Go to the library and get yourself a book on html. Then go to any website, right click on the window -> show source, and enjoy. :-) Although the best way to learn is always by doing. Create a few websites from scratch. You can easily play with it by creating an html file locally and loading it into the web browser. The more websites you build the better skills you will have. |
