    Hi dle45

When you say a list do you mean signed up members?

You can upload the pdf somewhere on your server and give the list the address and they can go to it and download it. If you have a members system on your site you can put it somewhere in there so that only your members can see it.

for example you could have a link like : http://www.yourdomain.com/example.pdf

and all they have to do is right click and save as... / download as... or visit the link in a browser (they would need adobe acrobat to read it so make sure you say that) of course there are other programs that can read pdf's but acrobat is standard.

You could also just e-mail the link to your list. I would probably wrap it in a .zip file so that it starts to download straight away.

    I hope this helps

If they're already on your list, then just go ahead and provide them the direct link to the download. Upload your pdf file and in your email, post the url: yourwebsitename.com/uploaddirectory/filename.pdf

    Hi

I like to do this a bit different. I never send a direct link to the product like: www.yourDomain.com/example.pdf

The reason? You are missing an opportunity to talk with your list. What I do is send them to a special page. www.yourDomain.com/download.htm

This way you can give them something for free on the page (the PDF gift), but you can also have a message on the page. It is another way to stay in touch, share some info and have then see your site name / message. If you are sending something out to your list, never miss a chance to get your message out. A nice page design with your own words on it works well and you can just say "Thanks" with it or almost anything else your marketing heart desires.

    Have a Great Day!

I also agreed with Richard. If you give this URL to your list...

    www . yourDomain . com / example . pdf

...you cannot track how many people downloaded the report. But if you give them this URL...

    www . yourDomain . com / download . htm

...you can put a tracking pixel into the page. From there you can know what can you do to improve the response rate.

On a side note, you also can put up some offers on that page to do a "soft upsell".

Totally agree with setting up a page, it makes sense to give the list a little more contact and of course you can always have a 'soft upsell' to

I agree with Richard's suggestion above.

But if you're using aweber, and you ONLY want to send the PDF/ZIP/etc file to your list, you can attach the file to your message.

And you can still track how many have downloaded and WHO has downloaded the file by selecting "Track Clicks?" at the bottom of the message edit page, just above the "Save message" button.

    Cheers.
