I am obviously new at all of this and just trying to get sent to the right place to start building a website to look professional enough to get accepted into some CPA networks.

I have a couple of domain names and hosting. The issue that i am having is that I am mentally paralyzed on what to do next.

Any suggestions would be great? I dont know why this is holding me back but it is.

Thanks for your help

    Definitely go with WordPress.

I made the mistake of not going with WordPress in the first place and lost out on lots of time. Now I'm catching up again with the power of WordPress.

The quickest and easiest way of getting started with what you have is to setup WordPress on your hosting account. This is very easy to do if your hosting account has a CPanel with the Fantastico application - a few clicks of teh mouse and your site is "on the air". Add one of the myriad of free WordPress themes and you are ready to write content and begin your Internet Marketing journey.

If you don't have Fantastico WordPress is still pretty simple to install, instructions for getting started are here:

Best of luck with your new site!

    Hello newage,

I understand as I was once at the exact same point where you presently are a long time ago.

This is where I also learned that there was only one chance to make a 1st good impression (VERY important in the case of CPA networks indeed), and also that there's ONLY TWO ways for getting it done; 1) learn all the ropes and doing it yourself (which as been extremely time consuming though provided me with the expertise I now have) and 2) outsourcing the process to a pro that would set you up in no time for a reasonable fee.

The second solution is the reason why I finally recently created a special turnkey package that helps those that would not want to bother with technical aspects but rather start publishing and make money immediately. All this while at the same time being able to take advantage of all the latest trends in regrds to SEO and Social Netwoks integration, which is also extremely important beyond the single web site design nowadays.

    Best regards

    Andre Foisy

I'm there too!!! I hear everyone saying WordPress no matter where I look. I understand WordPress works with Linux. I had the choice at GoDaddy to set up hosting with either Linux or Windows and I chose Windows. Is there a WordPress lookalike that functions under Windows? Or am I asking the wrong question and should I change hosting OS instead?

I'd say that it may all depends on the reasons why you've chosen a
windoze hosting package, and on godaddy on top of that.

Please don't be offensed we've all started somewhere, however you might
have seen your PC crashing several times in a year, chances are it run on
windoze. I'm running Internet servers as a sysadmin for 12 years on Unix
based OS, and have rarely seen it crash. I can't even remember if it ever
crashed more than 5 times in 12 years. So for sure Linux hosting is the way
to go. But that doesn't mean that WP won't run on windoze though.
It should with the correct server software installed.

Anyway, not only I wouldn't trust the "W" OS for hosting my business, but
I wouldn't host it there either, I've heard too much horror stories and
important limitations from some folks who'd hosted where you are.

Just a few sound of advices

All in all, if you're at the beginning of establishing yourself on the Net,
check my sig for a pretty cool WP power package especially crafted for
      starter.

      Take care.

        Mathew,
Starting out I used Godaddy. After a few websites I started going broke. If you plan to have several websites, go with hosting for unlimited domains. I've been very happy with Hostgator but I'm sure there are others. It keeps this whole thing affordable.

To both Netman and Jelelg, thanks for the advice. I've already cut one web host service loose for lack of support and won't be concerned about cutting my losses with GoDaddy should they prove to be a hindrance to my business. I went with GoDaddy simply to get started and move past my 'brain freeze' once I decided on domain name and content. Now if I can get a home page created I hope to create some momentum and keep from getting stalled out in the process of starting my IM business.
