I think it is good to be able to put together your own landing page, just so you know in the future you understand the ins and outs of web design.. You don't have to be brilliant at it, but just knowing how to put together a landing page is good... Like the guys above said...w3schools is a good place to take a look at....

Plus do you have any HTML knowledge? This is very important also...

But if you don't want to spend a really long period of time learning how to put great looking websites together, a great tool i have used in the past is 90 second website builder, you don't need any webdesign knowledge you can pretty much lay out the site you want with the click of your mouse...

    Take a look at 90secondwebsitebuiler.com.....

    Good Luck..

    Tas

If you have never built one before then use online tutorials before asking for help. There are many many of them to choose from.

You need some interface design skills (use Photoshop), and you need to know XHTML and CSS (doesn't take long to learn).

      Try:
      pixel2life.com
      good-tutorials.com
      tutorialized.com

(Sorry, I'm unable to post hyper-links yet!)

They have sections for the basics, then intermediate and expert stuff.

I would advise you to check out wordpress. It does all of the "coding" for you and lets you change your web design super easily. If you want to learn to do it yourself, there are many books that are fairly cheap at your local book store. That's how I learned XHTML and CSS myself. After you understand the concept, it's not very hard to pick up.

You can simply make your own website design by having a adobe photoshop.
I'm a little bit confused on what language are you using with?
Try adobe dream weaver or Macromedia these are both reliable and function
    similarly.

All of the advice above is excellent. However, if you don't have any design skills and want to have a website, why don't you consider something like Get Shifter! - it's free and you will gain some experience working with a website that functions like wordpress yet looks like a static site. Once you learn the ropes you can move on to an independently hosted and designed site.

    Hi!

I second that, too. WordPress is indeed the best way for you to get your website up an running quickly and you do not have to know how to code. Choose from the many themes and plugins available to you. Or you can buy custom themes, or have them made for you.
    Hope that helps

well you need to have 1. design/photoshop skills and 2. dreamweaver skills

you also need to know the basics in web design, but again it depends on what you are looking to build. There is an alternative option to hire a web designer, pay for their services and let them build your site on your behalf.

That's a bit of a broad question. If you can be more specific you will get a more direct answer to what you need. What are you trying to do? What type of site are you trying to build? What are your goals for the site? What resources do you have available? What is your level of technical knowledge? etc. etc.

If you want to create more than 1 site, or anticipate the need to create multiple sites down the road, then I think you really should learn wordpress. Once you get the hang of it you can put out new sites very fast. On the opposite side, designing your own is great if you have the skills or can learn them. I have the skills to hand code a site, but what I like about WP is the content management. You can build a site and then let the business owner/individual do their own content management. Very nice!

Most of the posts have answered your question. You just need to sign up for some online tutorials in basic HTML (HyperText Mark-up Language). Start from the simple stuff, and gradually graduate upwards. Trying to learn everything all at once will only end up confusing you!
