Basically I'm looking for a program to help me create websites.

I downloaded the trial version of Artisteer because it seemed really promising (they have this video on the website where you can see the basic functions) BUT it doesn't work.

I'm using mac so I'm thinking that might be why, I don't know.

Anyway, I can't spend all day trying to fix a program that's supposed to work, so I'm wondering what other alternatives there are to artisteer.

I'm looking into dreamweaver now but I would really prefer something small / simple / basic.

ALSO I do know html and css but my knowledge is kinda outdated and I'm lazy hence why I'm looking into a program that can do the dirty work for me!

Personal recommendations are very welcome!!
Please note that it HAS to work on mac.

Do you use it on a mac or windows computer?

I'm going to send artisteer a message now and see if they can help =)

EDIT2: Artisteer sent me a new version that seems to work better. Trying it out now. I hope it works, as I said before, this program looks promising!!

I use Artisteer too all the time. The more I use it, the more I learn it, the more flexible it becomes. I'm on Windows though and haven't tried to install it on a Mac so can't help you there.

    Hi,

I wonder what problems you found with Artisteer. I have used it and it's a great piece of software. You should contact them definately to see if you can get it to work as it is probably the simplest thing you can get for designing websites right now.

    Cheers

Hello all, I had tried to contact Artisteer today to place a order for there full Standard Edition for the $129 to start using it for re-doing our intranet site...

But there CC Purchase doesnt seem to be working correctly, I tried 2 different CC's and they both error out and then tried again later on and still it fails for some reason. But my question is does anybody know of a actual phone number to contact these people at or is it just web based and hope on a email response?

And do you just create the templates with the program and then use another program to add text and edit them and do your hyper linking with them?

Kinda lost to find that option so I can add text, modify it and all...

    TIA!

    - In reference to the purchase process, there support actually had a email waiting for me this morning to there European website and was able to process the purchase. So must say there support is pretty good for a good turn around time frame, now just waiting on Lic Key

I got reading and Artisteer is just for Template design and then you use what ever to edit the text, and I have been using DreamWeaver for doing that and its coming along really well.

First of all, there is nothing like artisteer. it is the first program of it's kind that can do what it does.

That being said, it ONLY designs TEMPLATEs... not whole websites.

Second of all, dreamweaver is just a code editor. You still need to know code to use it.

Lastly I would say you should just find a template for wordpress and do that. It's probably the easiest path to building your website.

Unless something changes soon, Artisteer, (allegedly is dead, simply from a lack of continued development,) I have a full license and I had to stop using it because it no longer functions for version 3.0 and above, sadly unless they update the code base, the software is graveyard dead, (allegedly)

Read through the forums, Artisteer Web Designer Forums

This software has been the greatest disappointment, unless they completely change the entire software and the underlying programming, it is not worth buying. (allegedly) make your own decision and have a good look at the forums, which are mostly deserted. (allegedly)

Personally, I never got with with Artisteer, although many people swear by it.

XSitePro is good and will work on a MAC, but you have to install a Windows environment like VMWare Fusion or Parallels first.

Artisteer looks easy to use, but great to hear about XSitePro.

Can simple 4-page website easily be done as Artisteer as well?

Must say I have been using Artisteer for a year or so and find it great for building templates. Great tool for creating websites for offline businesses with minimum coding knowledge. Would recommend particularly for wordpress and joomla sites
