Is this possible with WP?

I need to build a site for a soccer club with about 50 youth teams. I want to use WP because of the ease of letting the owners manage their content.

The part I am having a hard time with is that I need to create a members type of site with multiple logins, and each member (coach) needs to have the ability to upload photos, videos and page content for their team's page only. So any visitor to the site can view the pages of each team, but only the coach of each team can edit the content on their team page.

Please tell me if what I need is possible with WP, and if so, point me in the right direction to get the plugins/tools I need. I do know HTML and PHP, but just not WP very well. Please help me navigate my learning curve!

Thanks!

This would work with Wordpress MU (Multi-User).

I would use wordpressMU and create a subdomain for each team and let them do there thing. You can get some good wpmu plugins at premium.wpmudev.org or at wpmudev.org

you can get wpmu at WordPress MU › Blog Tool and Publishing Platform

I cannot find a way to host it for free to "play" with it on wordpress.com. Do you all know how to do this without first paying for hosting on my own domain? Do you know if the typical web hosting companies (bluehost, powweb, hostgator, etc) will host WPMU instead of standard WP?

Group blogging with the MU platform of wordpress is very easy to use and work with, if you have used the Wordpress normal blog platform and know how to get things done with it.

After playing with WP on WP.com, I figured out that you can create multiple blogs from the normal WP, each with their own subdomain. This is perfect. I don't need for the general public to be able to sign up for a blog account. I will setup each user by hand, but let them manage their site. This will work well. Thanks for all your input.
